As I've done a few other times over the past year and a half, I'm hosting another month of daily posts on the blockchain, known as HiveBloPoMo (Hive Blog Posting Month). I know some other awesome people on Hive have done similar 30 day posting challenges (like @macchiata, who was pointed out to me by the ever also awesome @fionasfavourites and @nickyhavey), but this one is slightly different, as I've based it off of the NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month imitative that started around 2010, that was in turn based on the long running NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month (both of which I did - and "won" - back in 2014). Traditionally the months have been April and November, which is why I've also picked those months to run my blockchain based versions.
While I'm focusing mostly on doing daily posts for my crypo-earning blog (hence referring to it as HiveBloPoMo...lol), I don't want to leave my WordPress friends out in the cold, so if anyone wants to jump in with the #NaBloPoMo tag instead, I say, go for it! I'll be keeping an eye on my Twitter for both tags, and I'll do my best to retweet them through my relevant accounts - my personal Twitter for WP, and the Hive posts on HiveBloPoMo (and probably HiveBlogShare account as well), and might drop a few @tipu tips as well.
Okay, I'm in! What will I win if I complete the HiveBloPoMo challenge?
As the tagline in my graphic says, this is how it all breaks down -
- Post daily on the Hive Blockchain for the month of November 2020
- Win the amazeballs feeling of having 30 new posts earning crypto on the Hive blockchain!
And a slight switchup for my non-crypto friends -
- Post daily on your blog for the month of November 2020
- Win the amazeballs feeling of having 30 new posts getting attention & boosting your SEO on the interwebz!
Is that it?
You mean that's not enough? 🤣
Okay, while I'd like to focus on this being more of a personal challenge, rather than winning Lambo amounts of coin, I can sweeten the challenge a teensy bit. I plan to reblog posts with the #HiveBloPoMo tag through the @hiveblopomo account, and I'll try to pass out some upvotes as well. I'm also thinking about doing another round of weekly curation posts for some or all (depending on the participation) HiveBloPoMo posts to help get some extra exposure.
So what's the big deal about blockchain blogging anyway?
When I first started SteemBloPoMo on that other blockchain, I remembered that back when I did the NaBloPoMo thing on the now completely redone BlogHer website, that they had a cool little graphic each month with blog post ideas. I started searching the interwebz, and discovered that not only were all the graphics gone (except for one from May 2015, thanks to a blogger who shared it on her personal blog), but all of my posts for the site, including the ones they paid me for, had vanished.
One of the myriad of reasons I'm so enthusiastic about the Hive blockchain is once something is published to the chain, it is there to stay - even if you edit and/or delete it, there's still a viewable original post out there in the blockchainverse, and the only one who can change your content is you.
This is something that's been on my mind a great deal as of late, especially with all the censorship running rampant on transitional, centralized social media. It also reminds me that a dear friend had her ENTIRE Facebook presence wiped out back in March of 2019, including all of her posts and private messages across the board, for a copyright complaint that she can't get the details for FROM 2012! When the page was removed, there almost 750 thousand (yes, three quarters of a million) people following it. Now, over a year and a half later, she still hasn't been able to get Facebook to tell her how to remedy the situation and restore her page.
Okay, I'll get off my soapbox (for now, anyway...lol), but I thought it was worth mentioning why I seem to be constantly cheering for my crypto cult community, especially now that the WordPress plugin for Hive (called @exxp - check out my post about my contest celebrating it HERE) has been released. I'm really excited about the potential I see for my blogging future!
Writing Prompts
To help get some of those creative blogging juices flowing, here's the aforementioned graphic I found from the old BlogHer site that I used the first time I participated in NaBloPoMo in 2014 -
(shared via the Lifestyle of a Professional blog - yes, they're somewhat photo-centric, but still some cool brain nudges)
I also love this awesome list of blog topic ideas, called 110+ Blog Post Ideas, compiled by Suzie Speaks (creator of the SundayBlogShare hash tag on Twitter). Here's a snippet of it -

Posted from my blog with Exxp : https://www.traciyork.com/hive-blog-posting-month-aka-hiveblopomo-starts-november-1st-2020/
Let's see. I have tried twice before. I think I got it right once. Not so, earlier this year...and the way this year has gone...
@traciyork, it occurred to me that you might want to mention the @hivebuzz badges that they will unlock for posting for 7 and 30 straight days...bearing in mind that the board works on UTC time. 😀
let's get this #HiveBloPoMo party started.
Writing my post now :)
I was so glad you got up on that soapbox! Reopening my biz in a sorta-post-Covid world amid economic wobbles has been all consuming and my focus had slipped. Back on the horse. The discipline of daily hiving also enables and improves my main biz game! Appreciating the community and the time to earn-accumulate.
LOL... one day they will say we were just lucky. 🤣

Do not miss the last post from @hivebuzz:
Who WOULDN'T want to participate in something called "HiveBloPoMo" ??? I have to be able to tell my grandkids that I was a HiveBloPoMoer!
Well firstly, congratulations on that wicked awesomesauce victory in 2014!
Thanks for the mention in the blog, I'll try to remember to use the #hiveblopomo tag - it's up on the whiteboard right in front of me now so I don't forget! I have just received a @hivebuzz badge saying I posted every day in October for the first time in a while... I guess I won't have that break I was hoping for now then 🤣
As @fionasfavourites also mentioned, hivebuzz will give a badge for weekly posting too so that's kinda cool - they've also got a counter thing on your own page which shows you if you're still on track or not.
Thank heavens for @hivebuzz!
This such a challenge for me. I like all the information and Ideas you post here. I found your post about on twitter. retweet by another.
IT'S BA....CK. Been waiting for it so that I can get that AMAZEBALL feeling next month. I'm in.
I love this. I think I'm going to have to give this a shot! I don't know if I've ever done a whole month straight. Lets see if I can!
