Why we need 'Direct Messages' on hive.blog.png

Hey pals thanks for not giving on me. I have been away from social media for a while that I never heard about Hive.blog when my mates did. But they say 'it's better late than never right'? So I'm glad to have joined.

First I will like to applaud the founders of steempress. I cam across it on my wordpress page when searching for plugins to install on my new website {https://dailynewsjoint.com). Despite its effectiveness, I feel the plugin is underperforming and could do more if organic promotions like referral bonuses and/or a community is formed for bloggers willing to make use of the plugin.

Now let's head straight into my point. On returning to social media and joining hive.blog I have met new friends. @belemo introduced me to the #hivenaija community. He has equally helped me cross post a few of my blog posts to the community giving me great exposure on my journey on hive.blog. I thought I could send him a private message to appreciate his kind gesture but I couldn't.

Second scenario.

@belemo had an amazing interview with @clixmoney for @dcooperation. I fell inlove with the interview (https://hive.blog/hive-148441/@dcooperation/interviewing-belemo-dcooperation-member#@clixmoney/qae3if) I was told i could be a part if i wanted. Anyways I tried chatting @clixmoney up to see how we can go about the interview but couldn't find the button to.

Third scenario.

I love welcoming my new friends or followers on all my social media apps. This is a little show of courtesy I learnt on Linkedin few years ago. @badmusgreene became the very first user on hive.blog to follow me last night and I was overwhelemed to have impressed someone to wanna follow me. I really wanted to send him a direct message thanking him for the follow and welcoming him to my blog but that was not possible.

Direct messages on hive.blog will

  1. Create more bonds amongst users
  2. Increase activities on the blockchain and most definitely yield more for the future of hive.
  3. It will also help hive.blog rank higher on alexa

It's literally on the way. It's working but needs to be integrated into the different apps. Probably in the next couple of months you will see it rolled out.

Hi there, @niallon11,

Do you have any news on this? Has it been implemented? Can I access it?

Thanks in advance for any info you may be able to provide...

Not on hive.blog but it is working on peakd.com quite well.

Thank you kindly for the info... I'll take a look there. :D

I totally agree with this. I think Andrarchy and the former steemit team are working on a project called openochard that will integrate something like a private messaging option on Hive. It would reduce our overdpendency on Discord and people will probably have to send and receive friend requests.

I'm soooo looking forward to the launch of that thing, there's nothing more i love than to keep engagements on chain, even if it will have to be in a chat box.

Exactly. It would drastically increase in chain activities.

Yes. It will be great. I pray the get the chat ready soon. It will definitely help the platform to thrive.

We'll be keeping our fingers crossed.

Yeah, you are right. That will be great if we will have private messaging here, that's why we use mostly discord.

You can also send 0.001 Hive to someone and encrypt a Memo by using the # tag at the beginning of the Memo.

Edit: It could be that the User doesn't even notice the memo.

Cheers for the post, and I also think that HIVE need some form of direct messaging built-in, as basic as needs be. It would make things significantly more convenient, like dropping a quick "Thank you" note, as you were, or maybe have a chat. For now though, we just use steem.chat, or Discord. Though I suppose it's not as seamless.

Have a great day :-)

Hey there @onyemacourage,

Are you still around?

Is there any news on Hive Direct Messaging?

Thanks for any information you (or anyone seeing this) can provide...
