Tom invited me to the kids’ homeschooling recital on Monday evening. There was to be an art show, a communal dinner (but not potluck just BYO), the recital, and dessert afterwards. It was held in the Quaker meeting house.
Second from right, above, is my general helper. She is in the oldest class and this was the History group presenting a skit about volunteer firemen in the 19th century.
This group of younger kids had made all their instruments and performed on them.
This is the drumming group. They were pretty good!
The last performance was by a band my general helper has formed with 2 other teens. They call themselves Salty and Out of the Loop. The last song, Zeal, was one she had written herself. They even did an encore!
There were 13 performances in all. When they were finished, there was a mad rush for the desserts table. But one had to be served the dessert of choice after waiting out the line.
I met a lot of people I’ve heard Tom and the kids talk about and it was a lovely way to spend an evening. I was mighty tired when I got home and pulled the shades and went to bed.
I am hoping my cleaning helper will come on Tuesday as I need help getting the garden going. It’s to be beautiful all week, rising into the 80’s by the weekend. It’s a shame to waste these cool nice days crashed…
