Is good to make a "V" notch cut on the side you want the tree to fall over. This will guide the fall direction and will also prevent the wood from snapping and damaging itself (in case you want to use it for anything other than firewood)

True i only made a horizontal face cut often enough for smallish firewood pine.

It's just like that, it takes time to learn everything and slowly when we start with small tasks, then as we become successful, we move towards bigger tasks.
