On Wednesday morning I didn’t get up until 6AM. I got the cat fed and the shades up and my post written. Then I started on the photos.
I started fastening the photos and captions down, and got 2 done only to discover I’d never cut the mats. I’d been putting them on the paper I’d used to lay out. So that was a bit of time wasted. But there are a lot less photos left. I’m just waiting on the long frame.
Next I get the glass good and clean.
Then I cut tiny mats, about ⅛” wide, so they fit under the edge that holds the glass and backboard.
Then using double side tape, I carefully fit the mats into the edge, double thickness. This will, hopefully, hold the photos away from the glass during the humid summers so they don’t stick to it.
I have 2 more frames to put the mats into. I spent most of the morning on this. I also got the laundry going, as I hadn’t had time to do it on Monday as usual.
I sat down for about an hour, and then got ready and finally got out to the West Herb garden about 1:30PM.
The first thing I had to do was dig up 3 comfrey plants and transplant them over in the Little Trees II row. Then I cut down all the tall stuff. It’s much easier to do BEFORE the plants start growing. Sigh…
I also now have an invasive, don’t know what it is, but it grows a deep tap root. Those took a while to get out. But I didn’t break any daffodils for a change.
It took me 2 hours to just get this garden cleaned out. Outside of photos, I didn’t get anything else done. I’ll have to do notes and amend on Friday afternoon, if I can.
It’s much nicer to look at now.
This West garden is next, maybe Thursday, but probably not. I have 5 hours planting peas in the afternoon.
Photo from 2024
In the evening I had a lovely visit from my general helper. She has moved on, is living in Vermont, and has just gotten a fantastic job at Shelburne Farms in Vermont. It was so lovely to see her and here all she has been up to!
On Thursday I hope to finish the laundry, clean the kitchen, and work on the photo project in the morning. I can’t get too tired as I have a long hard afternoon planting peas.

Do you have a picture of the invasive?
I like you how are handling the photos, it's good to keep memories well placed
Nope, but maybe if i can remember, I'll take one when I do the West garden.
Hope it will not have really been a great job for you digging alone
Pictures get lost in mobile phones, sometimes the memory card gets damaged, sometimes the mobile data gets lost, so this is a good way to keep the pictures safe for life. If you get them framed, they will remain safe.
Yup, that's the idea...
I think you need a rest
You’ve done a lot today and I must comment on your photo album
It looks good
Great job on the photo project! The gardens are looking nice and tidy. I hope your foot is not giving you too much trouble.
Oh
I didn’t have an idea that this is how the picture frame would be
This is a good idea
Many pictures on one frame>>>
