A lot of my photos of sunrises are taken looking west, as the light hits the trees. The gray clouds made a backdrop to the sun hitting the tops of the trees. It was supposed to be a sunny day, but that’s not what we got.
Dining room, tree unlit and lit
Once I had my post up and the kitchen cleaned up, I more or less ran out of gas. Hadn’t slept very well and it was telling on me. But because my helper friend was coming at 9:30AM, I kept at it.
First thing was to vacuum the dining room and then move the table into position. Next up was setting up a humidity tray under the new fern. I’d had the tray for a while, sitting on my kitchen counter. But the table was up against the ferns while we did the tree.
The new fern had a lot of dead on its underside, so I cleaned that out and then cleaned up the mess it made. The new humidity tray fit perfectly on the sturdy end table. But the other fern and its tray would be too heavy for the table I recently got at a tag sale. So I went up into the attic to see if there was a sturdier table. I found the 4 legged one in the photo. It was perfect.
I had recently gotten a much large storage box as a humidity tray for the ginger. That freed up 2 large saucers so I turned the biggest into a humidity tray for the rosemary. It was losing a lot of leaves as it’s so dry in the living room.
Then I cleaned up that mess. By then I was really getting tired so I sat down for a while. I got up about 9:15AM and went to finish the laundry. My helper friend arrived and he brought in the autumn wreaths to dry then went out on errands.
Gloomy view out the dining room window
I finished the laundry and got a shower. He got back and we set about getting wreaths out of the attic and hung up. I had him bring down all the wreaths as I couldn’t remember what they looked like in their big bags. I selected 2 and the kissing ball and he got them hung up. Then he took the rest back to the attic.
The other geranium in the roundtop window has buds now too. It is the red geranium and the first one is the pink one.
By the time I’d gotten everything in place and cleaned up the messes, I was exhausted. So I sat down while he made more persimmon puddings. Soon it was time for him to go.
This was put up several days ago but I couldn’t get a photo until things were moved. The masonry heater is too hot to hang stockings so I got this iron holder.
I got some lunch and got ready to go to PT. That went well and I was glad to be done by 2:15PM and home. I got the stove going and sat and watched Christmas movies all afternoon.
On Wednesday I hope to finish bills/budget. I am waiting for bank statement to post so I can finish. They are very late this month. There’s a winter storm heading this way so I have to prep for that. My #2 intern is coming to finish getting the wood undercover before the storm hits. I will help her as best I can. I also have exercise class in the morning. My contractor is coming in the afternoon to start work on the dining room floor. Hopefully he can finish it today. And maybe in all my spare time, I’ll start writing Christmas cards…
All I can see and smell in these photos is Christmas
I’m sure you can’t wait for Christmas to be here
Storms might be risky in case rain gets ice, watch out
This will definitely be snow, 2" - 5" they say...

The trees look beautiful in the sunlight in the first photo. You had a very busy day today too. Everything looks clear.
If I’m in your home, the dining room is the place I’d always love to sit
It’s beautiful
