Relationship problems, people with high IQ

in #hot5 years ago

Were you born with high natural intellectual abilities or a great talent for something? It seems that life should be easier for you, or at least that is what many people think. However, the opposite is true. If you have a high IQ, you are doomed to misunderstanding and, perhaps, even loneliness. Why do you have a relationship?

Stephen Hawking, a British theoretical physicist and one of the most famous scientists who died last March, once said that intelligence is the ability to adapt to change. Therefore, it seems that people with higher IQ should easily establish relationships and spark in them. But now it turns out that it is not so easy. Intelligent people often face communication discomfort, so they have problems with others.

IQ more than 110? You have a problem
First of all, it is important to know what is considered high intelligence. The average IQ is somewhere between 90-110, so values above 110 are considered above average. IQ values from 130 to 140, have only about 3% of the population. However, the results, published in the journal Intellect, by the Dutch publishing house Elsevier, indicate that not all is gold that glitters.

A study based on the findings of the American psychologist Lewis Terman shows that smarter people have great expectations in love and are not too “flexible.” Therefore, it is more difficult to find a common language in relations with them.

World for one
Neuropsychologist Ruth Karpinski from California College Pitzer, who conducted similar research in this area, found that people with above-average IQ are struggling with mental and physical problems that affect relationships. “So far we have not made any serious conclusions, because a large number of people who have collaborated with us suffer daily because of their unique emotional and physical abilities.” Intelligent people primarily have problems with themselves, ”she told Neuroscience magazine. But perhaps this is just the beginning.

More important than love
In a study published in the journal Marriage & Family Review, a group of Dutch scientists confirmed that high intelligence is associated with insensitivity to the needs of others. And this relationship can be a serious problem. The same scientists also noticed the fact that people with above-average intellect are more likely to avoid conflicts, but at the same time they find it harder to find friends.

All is not lost
Actress Lisa Kudrow or Phoebe from the TV series “Friends” has an IQ of 154, so she must be unhappy in her family life. But she lives in a happy marriage since 1995.
