This Promote Switch is like The "TOP SECRET WEAPON" on the steemit.com Platform.
Similar to Craigslist.

It just dawned on me that a promoted post might explain the dollar icon that sometimes appears in front of a post title, is that right?
How much do you need to spend to have an impact? Does it somehow translate into more visibility?

Cheers,thanks for the quick reply. I was actually thinking of the app version (Esteem) there's a small blue dollar bill icon that appears next to the title. I have had one of my articles promoted by an anonymous reader who put up 0.07 steem, the post did pretty well, but i wasn't able to be certain how much the promotion helped.
Anyways, I changed one of the tags to resteem in my article (as you know, can't change the 1st tag), if you promote it that would be great! already a follower of yours by the way, I've enjoyed some of your awesome surf posts.

Depending on what the going rate is or shall I say the HIGHEST BIDDER\PROMOTED
click on promoted tab on your top left and you will see how much was spent on the FIRST post and clicking now on the drop down menu next to the Dollar Amount, something like:
