My first successful power up on HPUD day!!!

Gamification is the name of the game

When I stepped into #HIVE early this year I was looking forward to a place to do blogging old style, a place where we could converse through comments, and a place to find my tribes. And I was not disappointed, not a bit.

However, in addition to all of the above, I also found the entire addictive ecosystem of #HIVE and #HBD tokens, and the gamifications around the various aspects of the ecosystem. In fact it was the #TTT challenge that finally got me active in HIVE.

If one is not careful Gamification can end up taking over the brain, rather than just good old content creation. At least it seemed to have taken over mine for a few weeks there but I am now back on terra firma.

One gamification that I found to be extremely useful in my onboarding journey over on HiveBuzz. Trying to meet milestones pointed to by the site tour allowed me to learn about Powering up, Saving HBD, transfer tokens, writing comments, voting and many more. For eg one interesting one was burning votes.

HPUD

One that I noticed immediately was Hive Power Up Day #HPUD. And I was not clear why it had to be one day. I had heard authors request readers to buy their book on e a certain day from amazon so that they would have a chance to hit the top lists for the day. I could, however, not see how it would help with HIVE ecosystem powering up on one day. Looks like my query was valid and there is not really any specific advantage of doing it on a certain day, except the magic of gamification :)

Well as usual the point is more nuance. Essentially people got together to do this so the people did not forget to power up their liquid HIVE. So the core reason was a good reminder. But the gamification has truly taken over :) And everyone wants a badge.

And when I say everyone I do mean me too. But I missed January one before I could even know such a day existed. And I forgot the first of February :) I had remembered it on 31st Jan and I remembered it when reading PUD posts next day but blanked out completely on 1st Feb.

3rd time lucky

So this time I was not taking any chance. I wanted to win another point for buying Hive so I bought some Hive for 500INR. I am not really in it for the crypto savings at this time, so I don't expect to be investing a lot money to buy HIVE at this moment. However buying some for it from time seems most reasonable to me.

Having both the HIVE I moved some to HBD and some to power up. But larger part I keep liquid all this time (maybe around 3 weeks ) just so I could use it on 1st March :)

And finally I did my first PUD power up today.

And with this power up I am up to 151HP. And with help of mentors supporting with 275 HP delegation I am hopeful my votes will be more useful to the recipients and I will have more RCs to work with. I wonder how much RC is required to create an account - something to check later.

That's all

So that's that, one more check done. Looking forward to when Hive Buzz will be up and running and I can see that HPUD badge :) Now next check will be done which is to write this post and drop into Terminal Discord group for it be have a chance of winning from the group of HPUD posts written by others. Cheerio everyone!

That's great, that you're participating, too! Wonderful growth to your account! 😊

I think one advantage of all doing it on one day is that we may see a real increase in staked $HIVE. We may not have the stats for this time for a while.

I'm not sure you really need to source images that are obviously your own screenshots. Those who check for plagiarism would not object to them.

Have got into the habit of writing the source line for dreemport submissions, and generally feel it makes me stop and think for a min :D
I really should start creating some templates for my posts. Have been procrastinating on that for a file now.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

Well done mate, it's great to see you growing and getting involved in these little events. I've always enjoyed HPUD, because of the kind of community camaraderie of it all. I also started taking the opportunity to do a bit of a blog about the previous month, and since doing that I've had a bit of fun capturing some things that I may otherwise forget.

Treating it like a bit of a blog/ the community spirit of everyone getting involved is what I like about it. It's also good to have a bit of a think about what the month will bring, and potentially set some mini goals for it.

That makes sense, I can feel that community vibe especially since actually doing the powerup yesterday. Agree it is good milestone to plan around. These first couple of months I have been trying hard to just stay afloat in the paddling pool of Hive. Now to slowly step in to the deep end with better planning :)

You must be killin' it out here!
@killerwot just slapped you with 1.000 PIMP, @brijwhiz.
You earned 1.000 PIMP for the strong hand.
They're getting a workout and slapped 1/1 possible people today.
