Why it Literally Makes Cents to Be an American Living in Thailand!

in #i2 years ago (edited)

Not sense but cents! That's right. All the financial talk around the world these days is inflation inflation inflation. They are even saying back in my home country we are having a "cost of living crisis"....ya know, on top of every other crisis.

I was even listening to an interview today from Stansberry Research, and the interviewer (Danielle Cambone) started off by saying she just paid twelve bucks for four rolls of toilet paper! That's when I almost chocked on my forty baht lunch which is about $1.10.

High energy prices and out of control money printing are putting the squeeze on basically the entire global population. But if you're an American in Thailand exchanging dollars for baht to live your life, then you are by default a genius investor!

While the world is complaining about the cost of living going up. The cost of living for us Americans in Thailand has gone down about 15% since February of last year. The dollar just broke out to the upside and looks as if life is going to get even cheaper for us Americans in Thailand as the fed continues to raise rates.

Meanwhile Thailand has capped the price of diesel, food inflation is almost unnoticeable, and rental prices all over the country are still down due to covid and lack of visitors to Thailand.

Honestly, I almost feel guilty when I hear about people working fifty hours a week making 4k a month just to scrape by back in the states. Meanwhile I'm on the 24th floor of a four star condo with pool and gym a half mile from the beach; for now less than four hundred dollars a month! Like wow, used to be about $460 not long ago which is still pretty ridiculous compared to the western world, and that includes wifi, cable TV, and utilities.

"GO WHERE YOU ARE TREATED BEST!"

A quote that really says it all made famous by the "Nomad Capitalist" Andrew Henderson. So yes, world travel for me has been as much about "going where I'm treated best" as it has been about exploring the world and enjoying the adventure that comes with it.

Talk about being spoiled rotten and "treated best"; here in Thailand a year ago I could get an hour long Thai massage for as little as five dollars an hour. Now it's down to as little as $4.25 cents! Yikes....again I'm kind of feeling good and bad at the same time. At least I always leave a tip, which often is not even expected.

So yes, it absolutely makes sense and cents to currently be an American in Thailand, and there are some well known names on this platform that I'm sure can relate. For those looking to make some major changes in their life I'll leave you with this...

Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life and it's never to late to be the change you are looking for.
