Rakshabandhan or simply Rakhi, a festival of south asia specially celebrated in India. This is a festival that shows the significance of brother sister relation.
Usually celebrated with a thread tied upon the hands of brother by the sister.
Sisters tie the thread or also known as rakhi and asks the promise of protection from the brother. The brother in return give gifts to sister and also a promise that in every difficult situation or phase of life he will be always be standing with her and will always protect her.
Among women and men who are not blood relatives there is also a transformed tradition of voluntary kin relations, achieved through the tying of rakhi amulets, which have cut across caste and class lines, and Hindu and Muslim divisions.
