The 2nd Match of the Hundred Mens Competition 2023 was played today bitween Welsh Fire vs Manchester Originals at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. In which Welsh Fire defeated Manchester Originals by 9 runs.
Due to rain match was reduced to 40 balls per side instead of 100 balls match.
Manchester Originals have won the toss and have opted to bowl first, Welsh Fire batted first, started the inning very well, Luke Wells and Joe Clarke came to start and gave a good start, the first wicket has dismissed for 25 runs in 9th ball, Joe Clarke dismissed just in 1 ball without scoring, next batsman Glenn Phillips came to bat handled the inning and played a very brilliant half-century partnership of 58 runs with Luke Wells for the second wicket, the second wicket has dismissed for 83 runs in 32nd ball, Luke Wells dismissed after playing a very brilliant quick half-century inning of 57 runs with the help of 3 sixes and 7 boundaires in just 23 balls, next batsman David Willey came to bat, after few moments the third wicket dismissed for 91 runs in 38th ball, Glenn Phillips dismissed after scoring 19 runs with the help of 1 six and 2 boundaires in 12 balls, followed by Stevie Eskinazi came to bat and he was remmains unbeaten for 3 runs in 2 balls with David Willey, and David Willey also remains unbeaten for 3 runs in 3 balls. In this way, Welsh Fire scored 94 runs for losing just 3 wickets in the stipulated 40 balls and set a target of 95 runs in front of Manchester Originals.
Manchester Originals bowlers Joshua Little took 2 wickets for 22 runs in 10 balls, Tom Hartley 1 wicket for 7 runs in 5 balls, Usama Mir was wicketless for 22 runs in 10 balls, Josh Tongue wicketless for 25 runs in 10 balls, and Paul Walter also wicketless for 13 runs in 5 balls.
Manchester Originals chasing 95 runs in the second inning they could manage just 85 runs in the stipulated 40 balls and lost the match by 9 runs. Manchester Originals astarted the inning very poorly, Philip Salt and Jos Buttler came to start the inning, the first wicket has dismissed very quickly without score in first ball of the inning, Philip Salt dismissed just in 1 ball without scoring, next batsman Laurie Evans came to bat and he also dismissed just in 1 balls without scoring as second wicket in 2nd ball of the inning, the team score still zero, followed by Max Holden came to bat handled the inning and played a brilliant half-century partnership of 63 runs with Jos Buttler, the third wicket has dismissed for 63 runs in 32nd ball, Max Holden dismissed after playing a very brilliant quick inning of 37 runs with the help of 7 boundiares in just 18 balls, next batsman Paul Walter came to bat and he dismissed just for 6 runs in 2 balls as fourth wicket in 34th ball, followed by Ashton Turner came to bat and he was remains unbeaten for 1 run in 1 ball with Jos Buttler, and Jos Buttler played a very brilliant quick unbeaten inning of 37 runs with the help of 3 sixes and 2 boundaries in just 18 balls, but unlickly they cannot react to the target. In this way, Manchester Originals chasing 95 runs they could manage just 85 runs after losing 4 wickets in the stipulated 40 balls and lost the match by 9 runs.
Welsh Fire bowlers performed very brilliant bowling, David Willey took 2 wickets just for 17 runs in 10 balls, Shaheen Afridi 2 wickets just for 24 runs in 10 balls, Haris Rauf was wicketless just for 15 runs in 10 balls, and David Payne also wicketless for 27 runs in 10 balls.
Welsh Fire batsman Luke Wells was selected as the best player of the match, he played a very brilliant quick half-century inning of 57 runs with the help of 3 sixes and 7 boundaires in just 23 balls.
