Tallycoin is a front end that allows a BTC Lightning Node to be linked to allow automatic creation of Lightning invoices on the site. Payment goes direct to the Node.
It doesn't hold the money or even transmit it. It is simply a plugin for the popular Umbrel Lightning Node open source software.
Tallycoin allows payment via the Lightning Network (fee less and fast, perfect for small amounts) and on-chain (should you wish to donate larger amounts).
This is huge in itself and it is so easy to donate. Just specify the amount you want to donate and TallyCoin creates a Lightning invoice with QR code which you can scan with your Lightning Wallet.
Much less friction than using PayPal or credit cards.
But wait there is more.
Thanks to @brianoflondon you can pay Lightning invoices direct with Hive or HBD from your Hive account (using Keychain or Hive Signer). This HiveLightning service is at https://lnd.v4v.app/
All you need to do is click on the QR code on the Tallycoin site and paste it into the Lightning Invoice box and click either the HIVE or HBD button to send the indicated amount of HIVE or HBD.
Super easy!

Wow...after reading the story as described on Twitter I am not surprised by the outcry.
These events re necessary to show every day non-crypto people why crypto and the blockchain are needed.
But in their decentralized form, their trustless form.
Bllckchain is the perfect next step for the evolution of fund raising to become a trustless process, where the platform makes it's money off transaction fees but doesn't touch the donated money.

I agree that this type of transaction is perfectly executed on a blockchain, a trustless, immutable and cryptographically protected system would prevent this from happening.
Is there anyone who isn't clear on this "freedom convoy" being the long announced shutdown of the supply chain?
This way, not only do they get that shutdown they've been "predicting" for many months (right on time), but they also get to blame it on "anti-vaxxers" and "conspiracy theorists"
Not to mention these folks raising tons of money for GFM, the oil companies, etc.

Was reading on twitter how Gofundme shot themselves in the foot. Bad PR move on their behalf which will definitely hurt them. Glad to know there is alternative methods right from Hive.

Agree this is a perfect use case for a system like Hive. A trustless, immutable, cryptographically protected, method of raising funds.

I have n't heard of this story, so I will follow these links. I have some sats on a gainmg wallet connected to lightening, so this is a good time to learn more about using these wallets.
I think it is really cool to use decentralization and web 3.0 to avoid these web 2.0 entanglements where a centralied entity confisc ates your money for whatever reason.
