The Cruel Hoax Of The Pet Industry

in #inforwar4 years ago (edited)

With Thanksgiving, Xmas approaching and the election kicking in, we decided to take a few steps back. Our political system is a "mad beast" that will end up committing suicide, there is no if but when... and when that happens it is going to get very ugly.

But with the end of the year on the horizon, the Pet Industry is lurking and preying on people's emotions. That very industry is yet another example of why we must resist monetizing life because every time we do so, market forces (determined by the infinite growth paradigm) are set into motion, and then we all know what happens from there: the abuse of nature will become unstoppable.

If a vast majority worshiped "conscious capitalism", there would no longer be any profit to make. Most of the profits are generated by ignorance and greed. They are two sides of the same coin. The puzzle is insolvable, and its scope gargantuan.

2017 saw the highest amount reached yet in pet industry products and pet care by Americans: 69.51 billion dollars. While there's still no official data to tell if Americans came in short, matched, or surpassed 2017’s statistic in 2018 ($73+ billion estimated – source), the amount spent on pets has seen nothing but annual growth since the mid 1990’s. (link below)

Veterinarian care is not even accounted for but represents almost $30 billion yearly. So the grand total is close to $100 billion according to TopDogTips. There has been a 70% increase in animals in foster care in 2019, meaning that overwhelmed animal shelters offer pet food and free care if people want to foster abandoned pets. But how long can it last, with the (fake) covid crisis, and also knowing that every year the number of pet owners getting rid of their animals ever increases?

It is difficult to compare the US with China since Chinese dog meat markets are pretty common there. But to give you an idea: China's animal shelters can't cope with 150 million pets abandoned due to COVID-19. Before the so-called pandemic hit, pet ownership in China had been a growing trend popularized by celebrities and was projected to be worth $30 billion in 2020.

No matter how we look at the picture, we find are pet breeders and advertising at the core of the problem. This is insanity and if we look closer, it is the same mindset behind the destruction of biodiversity.

Endless growth is going to pillage everything until it no longer can. This is caused by a mind virus called Wetiko, we made a video about it 2 or 3 months ago. (see the medium link below)

We need to end the myth of ethical pet breeders. Greed is anti-life, always. Not to mention that inbreeding causes painful and life-threatening genetic defects in “purebred” dogs and cats, explains Peta. The only viable option is adoption at this stage but that would not bode well for the pet industry because the market surge is caused by new pet owners of course.

Then comes the question: how is it that pet cancer is at all-time high? Look no further: all these cans and dry food filled with GMOs and other flavors concocted by SynBio. Here we'd suggest that you read the article by TopDogTips: 10 Cancer-Causing Ingredients in Dog Foods

Cancer is the number one disease which kills pets. Almost one in two dogs over the age of 10 years develops cancer. A figure of 47% currently compares with cats at roughly 32%. But, it is predicted to get worse; much worse. In the USA, two in three dogs and at least one in three cats are predicted to be diagnosed with cancer in the future. Its an epidemic and, for dogs especially, the figures are worse than for humans! (link below)

It is all good for veterinarian clinics of course. Business is rolling but also it has bad consequences as most people do not have pet insurance. And their pets will eventually land in animal shelters. However many owners simply cannot afford organic foods for them, and that is another cruel reality. These animals are just doomed to have costly chronic health issues, cancer being the last straw. It is the same for us humans.

U.S. veterinary care is a nearly $19 billion market. The APPA predicted that pet health insurance, which an estimated 1 to 2 percent of U.S. pet owners purchase, will grow in popularity “with pets living longer and requiring more complex and extended medical care.”(link below)

And lastly, most of the animals finding their ways to shelters may not be euthanized right away but used in animal studies which is a $28 billion dollar market, and will not disappear any time soon, although it could be ended overnight using "organ-on-chips" technology, giving very accurate results. (video below)

Animal studies have been proven completely inefficient, however, but that keeps many labs in business and scientists need their monthly paychecks.

THEHILL: A 2015 analysis concluded that as much as 89 percent of animal studies could not be reproduced, a fundamental step used to confirm the validity of scientific results. This amounts to a staggering $28 billion wasted every year. (link below)

We are not going to get into the pharmaceutical landscape, but if you wondered why the prescription drug market causes so many dire side effects, do not look any further. You get the picture, don't you?

The abuse of animals leads to our own abuse. This is the Principle of Correspondence in action. All issues mirror one another. This metaphysical aspect was already known 4,000 years ago. We can't get away with it! We have to take responsibility or else.

The endless growth mantra is so detrimental to our society and psyches and, we need to act upon it and fast. At this stage, we've got very little to lose. We need a new society, a competition-free planet. Greed is a mere symptom, the symptom of a nonsensical premise to start with.

So if you know people who contemplate buying a pet, just forward them this article ASAP because we have a situation here!

I know puppies here are upwards of a few grand each - lockdown has brought that on. And people are buying in wihtout knowing how much it's REALLY going to cost them. I expect to see a lot of animals in shelters next year.

this is an alarming situation, and there will not be any escape as many will be euthanized because of greed

Down with puppies!
