India is great country

I strongly condemn all the answers here stating that India is an average country. To be honest, they have no idea what they are writing about.

The fact shall never change that India is a great nation and shall always be. This is not just chest-thumping. I have reasons to say this.

(1) Our core values makes us great. And great people make a country great. We accept people of all types and treat them as family. We strongly believe in “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” i.e the world is family. We are committed to keep India's identity as a great nation. Selfish people do exist, but overall, citizens are committed to contribute in developing India and maintaining its positive image. No other country has been as open-minded as us. Again exceptions do exist, but you surely cannot turn exceptions into facts. They are called exceptions because they are in a small minority.

(2) No other country suffered a millennium of looting and plundering and still has a robust economy when we are yet to celebrate the 70th year of independence. Do not mention China. It was never plundered to that extent. The role of both the civilians and government comes into picture.

(3) Great people do commit mistakes. India's negative points are mostly because we voted stupid leaders into power before, who really weren't capable to be leaders in the first place. Under them, India saw scams worth billions. They caused a huge loss to the nation. And those maniacs ruled India for over 60 years.

(4) Another mistake was of people during independence who were of the opinion that they don't need to do anything because government will look after everything. But that is no longer the case. Out of our past mistakes, we steadily emerge stronger and greater than before. Under our present dynamic leader, more people come forward to contribute to nation-building. It wasn't a random thing that India attained the status of the world’s fastest growing economy. It is because of the joint efforts by the government and civilians.

(5) Our great soldiers, the defenders of our freedom, our integrity and our sovereignty are totally truthful to their duty. Corruption is at its minimum levels, nearly negligible and we are forever indebted to their heroic efforts to keep us safe. A professional military, which does not interfere in politics, is a very important factor in keeping a nation great.

(6) The biggest problem is the biased media which tries its best to project India in a negative light. And frankly, they have been in the limelight for too long. That is why some of our own people have negative opinions about India. That is why even one negative incident makes them feel that the entire country is bad or spineless.

(7) In the words of Major General GD Bakshi, a combat veteran of 37 years service in the Indian Army, there is no country more tolerant than India. Despite the regular immaturity shown by our neighbour, Pakistan, we have always handled the situation in a mature manner. We still try to have peace talks. We still hope that it comes to its senses. We believe that humanity will prevail in case of Pakistan as well. We do not go for war because we are concerned about citizens of both countries. We limit ourselves to surgical strikes. We give them chances to improve. No other country is that tolerant. We have always believed in harmony.

(8) We have kept our culture still thriving. It is not that India is becoming totally western. India accumulates all cultures. But our identity is not lost. Our own culture is still intact because it is too strong to be broken. We do not let go of our identity. Our own identity is not compromised.

(9) There is only one country which comes to mind when you say Unity in Diversity and that is India. Ours is a nation with around 1800 languages and dialects, so many religions and even in one religion, different kinds of faiths. We still are so united. Do you ever think this will collapse India? So much diversity cab easily cause a country's downfall in a short period of time. But India has survived for decades. And shall continue to. Because on the whole, our country is strong. And we are united.

(10) Last but not the least, you cannot forget the contributions made by India to the world. There are simply too many. When foreigners can appreciate us, then why can't we be proud of what we are? There could still be many things we have to learn, but our case is not hopeless. We may still have a long way to go but we won't give up.

BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE. NEGATIVES EXIST IN EVERY COUNTRY.

INDIA IS A GREAT NATION, PERIOD.
