My name is Rafael. I'm a 22-year old from Venezuela. I'm hoping you'll follow me on my personal journey on everything that makes this life a gift worth fighting for, as I will be following yours.
I joined Steemit thanks to a friend from college, who shares the same passion for english, cooking, and overall, getting to know people from all across the world. I noticed how inspired she was while describing me what Steemit what all about, and I have to confess: at first, it didn't seem like something real. I felt like she was talking to me about some sort of game or a simple hobby that you would dedicate only if you have plenty of time to spare.
It turned to be completely different, as I've had the opportunity to learn and see for myself that we're entering a community, a place for all of us to share our personal stories and hopefully, grow together.
I'm a firm believer that we have a duty with ourselves, as humans. Only through love and compassion will we be able to overcome some of the biggest problems that we, as a society, are facing up.
Whether is through a memory, a thought, a cooking recipe that is very special and personal to us, a simple anecdote, we can all give something nice to this world and make Internet and this new era of communication worthwhile.
So, I hope you don't mind my sensitivity and "cheesiness". I decided to live for myself and put myself before others. That's the only way we'll be able to help each other out. Living in this era means being aware: aware of the problems of the world, aware of the problems of our own community, aware of the problems of our friends and family, and aware of the power we all possess to make a change.
