What Your 2017 Retrospective Says About You

Hello, everyone! This is my first post on Steemit and instead of just going the classical way of saying hi and a few words about myself and my interests, I thought I would write my 2017 highlights, which I am sure will say a few things about me. Let’s dig in!

Finding out about Steemit and cryptocurrencies

I found out about Steemit from one of the best business mentoring platforms in Romania, Startup Academy. I thought the whole Steemit system was complicated at first glance and as a result, I didn’t put too much effort in it and it took me ages to finally put the pen on the paper. Well, I guess better late than never and now I really am taking it seriously.

What attracted me here, was the possibility of earning money for writing valuable content, regardless of the topic. I spend a lot of time on social media, so I thought why wouldn’t I do it in a more profitable way that can also bring something useful to other people’s lives?

The discovery of Steemit also made me pay more attention to cryptocurrencies. I didn’t know anybody around me to have any clue about this “industry” and although I first heard about Bitcoin several years ago, I never bothered to learn more about it because again, it felt complicated. Yes, I am not a technical person, but I am trying.

I’ve got married in 2017!!!

Definitely the biggest highlight of the year was getting married to the loveliest person I have ever met. My wife and I are very passionate about sports, adventure, music and mountains and I am very confident that we will be happy and overcome any obstacle that life will throw at us. Apart from passions and interests, there are many deep values that unite us as well.

God bless the Medesans!

Honeymoon in Bali

Well, what do you do after the wedding? Obviously, you go to your honeymoon. We are very happy to have chosen Bali, Indonesia, as our destination, as it is by far, the most magical place I have ever been to. The sights, the adventures, the water, the sand and very important, the people have really enriched our lives and is definitely a place that I want to return to soon.

Stay tuned as I will write a detailed post about our experience there in the days to come.

Political activism

This year, there were many protests in Romania that I joined, as the ruling party, the social democrats, have pushed many drafts law that aimed to gain political control over the justice system and decriminalize corruption. This has also brought a lot of criticism from across the world against the Romanian government but the fight is not over yet, as they continue to push those draft laws. Although I totally reject socialism, I never take it to the streets to protest ideology, but having an independent justice system is not negotiable.

This is a topic that I will come back to soon.

I have finally learned how to swim!

Yes, it is never late to learn. This is a core belief of mine that I have built throughout the years and it helps me look very confidently at learning new things, even though they are completely out of my comfort zone and I’m 33. Eversince I was a kid I feared water and would panic when trying to swim. However, within the last year I went to local pools often and tried to get more and more comfortable in the water until the fear dissipated and I am now at a stage where I am improving my swimming technique.

Oh, and did I mention I did this alone, with NO professional trainer?

Anyway, that’s it guys. There are many other things that had an important impact on my 2017, but I think these were the most relevant ones.

Please let me know in the comments below what were your 2017 highlights and who knows, maybe we can learn from each other.

Audaces fortuna iuvat,
Mihai
