Hello Sam, welcome to Steem! :-)

You are doing nothing wrong with your profile picture and it would work but.... for some reason your site doesn't let you do that.
So here's the trick:

  • Save your desired profile picture on your disk.
  • Drag and drop it into your post or comment.
    (You do not actually need to post it)
  • Site would store that image for you on its own servers for convenience and speed providing you an URL to it.
  • Use that URL as your profile picture.

I've actually already done that for you, so here you are, use that one:
