Hi Steemit! I am Tanguy, an adventurer, web developer and challenger, always in quest of learning

in #introduceyourself8 years ago (edited)

I decided to show you representative pictures from some random part of my #life as introduction of myself.

You could easily get surprised when you will notice some of my DIY fancy-awkward-turns-of-phrase but I will deeply implore your indulgence to bring a smoothie escort to your reading, cause I never had the luck to fulfill my english class at school. And if you wondered why, I would answer that first of all it's because I am from France... You know, this amazing country where the people have the surnatural capacity to mix the fact to not work much whith the one of spread their contagious complaining around, in a happy mess untill all the French people finally got complaining-connected. And doing all of that while keep head up and deep proud.
That the magic spell produced by the mariage of Democraty and Freedom of expression. And in France as we started life-citizen courses at an early age, I also started to practice it early too and with zealous.

(And mostly also because it’s definitly too hard to stay focus and listen an english teacher when you totally high.).

Peace !

Freshly born. Look like ready to get my ass kicked ;)
And don’t stare at my mom too long, it was 30 years ago. Trust me. She doesn’t look the same at all now.

And same for me. No surprise :)

#Music and tits

I had no idea how the hell to play guitare, but since I heard girls used to point their tits to care guys more when they hold this encumbering stuff, so I think it was a pretty cool idea to appear with it often.

I also used to compose electronic music, or in fact... yeah… mostly tried to compose stuffs…

The more I learnt about how electronic music used to work and the more I got some curiousity for classical #music. After 2 years of deep practicing, discovering that you finally feel wider enjoyment by listening Chopin than Daft Punk, it's like to be raped by a gorilla at elementary school and accept to keep during all your life zoophilia as deviant sexual behavior.

Well, I might be exagerate a bit on that one, but the fact is I didn’t had anymore time to spend in a new classical music composer program.

I realized anyway that I invested more money that I won, I finally abandoned it in favor of getting new skills for a real job.

Goals, Robots and Personal Revolution

As you guess, it’s not so easy to make money when you create music.
And while I was reading : « The 4 hours weeks » of Tim Feriss (which teach you how to automatize your revenue but mostly make you realize that is even possible), I decided to share my composer technics and skills previously acquired, into a blog.

The thing was that I had to change colors and stuffs on my blog. Then after to have got a lot of fun playing hacker struggled the source code I then decided to start the complete learning of HTML and CSS language.

Later, I needed to change more complex stuffs that half of you guys will prefer never know, Then I started to learn PHP and Javascript language.

I got completly addicted.

I got this feeling that everythings could became possible on internet. I could from now create stuffs like, robots, scripts ready to complete tasks at my place, duplicated workers tireless which could save us precious time. I started to felt powerful and rich of creativity.

The blog was never finished, but I became Web Designer / Developer.

A replicant in the movie Bladrunner. They are well known for be virtually identical to human but tireless with superior strength, agility and variable intelligence depending on the model.

My first web application

My previous job was to analysis surveys results after recorded it all manually to a computer. Pollsters dispatched in the country, after they all heavily had sent it by postmail…
I realized that I could just program an online application which could, in one hand, totally replace this part of my job, and in an other hand, save thousands of useless postmails (and time it takes to open it…).
So for fun and for practice I programmed the whole stuff. I showed them a demo and they actually loved it and I sell to them for a nice amount.
The boss, who never been involved in moderns technologies at all, could even not imagined a kind of application like that was even possible.
And today he’s still an active clients of mine, keeping to order me, sometimes, I have to admit, strange requests, but most of time usefull scripts and tools.

#Travel and #spirituality

It is better for you to be free of fear lying upon a pallet, than to have a golden couch and a rich table and be full of trouble.

Epicurus

I often used to escape from my native city, especially when coming the time of the beautiful days. When I #travel, I enjoy to plan less than possible. I take time to live and not intent to arriving. It allows to bring myself closer to the perception "right here right now" which is for me essential.

Take a small bag, a camping tent, or not, get my guitar to catch girls
to catch girls attention to improve myself, then hitchhiker accross the country, get what the chance will present to me and live with all my heart the most it’s possible to experiment. Travel is opportunity to discover new landscapes, people and ideas, but most of all to take time with myself to get new eyes on this things.

On this pics, we were travelling from little Britain (North West of France) in direction to Portugal. The decision was taken late one night in a bar, with the clarty and enjoyment could have 2 buddies after drank few pint of beer... So to make the trip a bit more "spicy", we choosed to travel without any cash or credit card.

The only plan we made was to create some art painting and others fimo clay art's stuffs along the way, in the hope to sell it later on few spot full of tourist.

I am laughting my ass off while am seeing this picture again... Like this it's look like a miserable, but that evening we actually sold all the painting left of my friend and few fimo necklace and bracelet for a total of l70€. Which was happily spend here and there pretty quickly.

I remember also that we didn’t ate everyday, but it allows us to discover what the real hunger is and to really appreciate and enjoy the food when the chance bring to us some. We often met incredible and so generous people, who all the time gave us more than we needed.

Travel without cash was a so far interesting experience and I keep a deep warm memory colored by the express of a great sense of humanity.

Challenge and personal revolution

I realized the fact that after few trip, historical monument as seems as "amazing seeing" didn't bring me any real value.

Then one day, as I was on my way to visit the famous Great Wall in China, I switched direction to Shaolin Temple in the hopeness that I could experiment something new and different.

I never like much routine and in case it becomes too present, I easily can set up some new crazy #challenge with myself.

On this picture I was in a Kung-fu school close to the famous Shaolin Temple with some students, learning myself kung-fu and Sanda Boxing.

I never been a great athlete, but I liked the idea to stopped smoke and hardly hustle myself during fews month.
(Will describe it in details this amazing adventure which deserves at least a whole article in a further post...)

So after 3 month of intense kung-fu training guess what ?
I have still no idea how the hell to plant a spike right into a window walk bell but I got nice pics. And that’s pretty cool.

I also use to fight and training Muay Thai since I landed in Thailand but didn’t practice for a while now.

Material life

(Or how to get 10 000 € in 10 weeks)

I sometimes could not be so lazy, and since I've planned to live definitively in Thailand, I needed to shake my ass to save and get money quickly. And in France with no degree I didn't see lot of possibilities:

  1. Commercial
  2. Street pollster
  3. Prostitute
  4. Drug dealer
  5. Waiter

There not much difference between the first three, exepted that commercial and polster usually don't have sex with their client.

And about the 4th you need massive contacts (and maybe weird) to make consistant money, so I finally opted for the last one.

I found a vacant seasonial job in a touristic front of beach restaurant. Started running non-stop and serving tourist mob from 11 AM to 7 PM without any time-break (I actually could but as I stopped smoke few weeks earlier, I liked to keep myself fully busy, was full of energy anyway.).

Later on, I heard about a second vacant post in some sweetshop of the regional funfair, owned and managed by a huge and famous family, also known to easily turns dangerous in case of problem...

The job was about making candy floss and started from 8 PM to 3 AM. I didn't hesite much and jumped on the opportunity.

It was now a 15 hours daily marathon with the only occasion I had to sit was the short 5 minutes on the bicycle I used while switching job.

Later in the season, after barely dared to crouch and allow my legs resting a bit, I was kindly been aware by a scary yelling from scarlat-and-decomposed face of the funfair's Big Boss in person, that wasn't allowed.

While my second employer didn't allow us any day off, the first one allowed to his staff 2 days off during the whole season: one during the first week and one during the last one.

I choosed to don't take it at all and get the most #money I could.

I used to deep-sleep like a baby every night.

This same ecarlate-decomposed-face offered me a 1h/day job as ticket seller at the minigolf of the funfair, allowing me to sit and also to find a bit of time for eat.

I kept this routine for about 10 weeks then I had cumulated, with seasonial bonus and tips from restaurant, around 10 000 €. In other side, I am keeping a daily-early pain on my ankles after woke up.

Next step...

This picture is showing a pretty charming bungalow with a splendid sea view that I rented for a while just after leaving France.

It represents well the time when I started to appreciate fruits of labor previously stocked and getting relax.

Other stuffs

I am also a chess addict. I learnt from my dad at age of 4. As you guess I wasn’t a great player but I knew how to move pieces. My dad died 2 years after and it actually was the only thing he ever teach me directly. I play online everyday when I got a moment.

I like to read book, I like to caress cats. For this pic then, I was certainly happy.

I am deeply introduced in the thai culture and can speak, read and write Thai.

I always in searching of knowledge to learn from this amazing people and even find them more natural and human sometimes than what I used to encounter in my native country. Which I actually never regret or miss any minute.

Futur

I will be glad in futur to mess things up to bring my contribution to the building of Steemit community and I have already tons of ideas to do with. And I am pretty sure you will love it.

Welcome dude, Great to see your profile. Some interesting pics of travel and life. Keep em coming. Mick.

Thanks for a great post, this gets my so great award lol

I am sure this shout will be heard :)

Does you username have anything to do with the fashion designer? And speaking of the shaolin monks I wondered if this is something you would believe them capable of. Seems impossible, but i obviously am not trained for that.

Nothing to do with the fashion brand :)
About the monk it's totally possible and it fact also not so amazing to reproduce for anybody in reality. You could be surprised or even disappointed, but all the legend and fantasy about the Qi, for at least what I saw, seems to be a crap..

I was very interested to know everythings about it when arrived in the school and then started to ask a lot of questions to studients and young monk. I was very surprised when they told me the preparation they used to do before a show, was nothing to do with Qi, They told me it's only a question of skin training...
My teacher catch me one day asking this questions to young monks, and strenghly advertised me that I should never again speak with them otherwise I would definitively be fired from the school...
I am style wondering if it's because Chinese wants to protect all the international Shaolin business and the fact there is actually no magical behind Qi, or at contrary if it's because there is, and it's forbidden to foreigner to know much about it.

Anyway, after seen their training, I can garanty that all you see in this video :

has nothing to do with Qi, and it's only a skin/muscle training question.

And as you maybe know if you practicing guitar, at the beginning your finger start to build calluses and you don't hurt anymore while pressing the chords, the skin fastly reinforce by herself.

Then some studients who used to easily break heavy wood bar against harm or even iron bar with only their skull, told me I can easily do the same too and after only few weeks of training :
They hit the part of body concerned with a bag of sand, or punch it in case they're into break bricks with lateral parts of hands, about 10 to 15 min few times a day (for the head they also stand on the head against the floor, pressing the front skull while turn it slowly to reinforce a bigger area). I guess about the neck it's more delicate but the technic could use the same principe.

What It's not recommended at all is to replace the bag of sand by something stronger!
I met a practicien in a smaller school who had hands double size of mines, because he was used to hit a real brick wall. Some teachers from my school told me that was stupid and useless cause they will not get any benefit from it and just degraded themself.

That's fascinating. I often wondered if it was a trick and not actually anything mystical. Regardless, it is very interesting to me and I'm glad you shared your experience with me. These are the sort of conversations I lfove on steemit where I am able to learn and you are able to explain and we both come away with value. Great work!

Enjoy your vacation. Pictures look good.

hey @hermes999 !
nice to meet you and welcome 8]

Whole life story compressed into little vignettes into a simple introduce-yourself post. Can tell it's a composer doing it, top notch.

First of all, welcome to Steem and, Man, you're using Ableton. I am a singer but I do not have much interest in musics. Just a little bit of vocal songs with chorus. Have a look in my songs. Although my songs are religious but they do not hurt anyone in any case.

Thanks Man ! Yeah it's nice vocal you have. I have a large palette of style of music that I like and sometimes I like to listen vocals from Imam as well, I don't understand anything but it's procure a deep feeling.
