Introducing myself to Steemit

Hello Steemit community.

My name is Curt Boyd,  I am married to a beautiful young lady  Kara Boyd @boydwander.

I am betting she will do much better in this platform than i will as she is very talented in photography and also is a great cook/chef,  which is sometimes tough for me especially when i am trying to diet and lose weight.

I have been struggling with weight for a number of years now since i was diagnosed with sleep apnea back in 2004'ish?

A very serious condition that played a role in me having very little energy and gaining a large amount of body weight in under a year.  It was very different for me to be overweight as i was always active in playing sports and growing up on a small hobby farm.    I'll talk more about sleep apnea in a future post and maybe even help someone realize how dangerous it.  Perhaps convince someone to have a sleep test for yourself or a loved one if you notice some warning signs.

Some more information about me since this is my #introduceyourself  post.

I am 43 years old,  wow time flies.  My wife and I have been married for 16 years,  again, Wow time flies!!

We have 2 Dogs,  Roxy and Sasha.

I have worked in the Casino Industry for almost 22 years now.

This type of platform scares me because i am not really accustomed to talking about myself, and i often wonder what can i offer?

It's something i will struggle with in my time here but i'm willing to give it a shot.

Future blogs/posts i'm thinking of will include sleep apnea,  some home renovation projects,  and whatever may come up in life if I feel someone may benefit from the discussion.

I hope you weren't completely bored with my post here, I promise to keep learning and put out some quality content in the future!

Looking forward to your comments and thank you for taking the time to get to know me!

Welcome to Steemit. I hope it is good for you. Invite some friends and build the community

Thank-you, I am talking to some friends about Steemit and we will see if they look into it. Some still are sceptical.

hello @ittybittycoin and welcome to steemit!

this is a great place with a great community .. glad to have you.
@ricmark

Glad to be here! I'm at work now but i do plan to check out everyone's blog that i can afterwards. cheers!

I promise to keep learning and put out some quality content in the future!

This can be a hard promise to keep, especially when you're just starting out! The best way to stay motivated and keep creating is to build relationships. Find someone who is already creating the kind of content you're desiring to, follow their work and interact with them.

You're probably not going to be able to do everything they can do from day 1, but if you can just take one little thing they do and apply it to your own work, you will get better and better over time.

Personally, @axios is my creative inspiration. He consistently puts out material that inspires me to keep writing, keep creating, and keep evolving.

Wish you the best of luck!

Thank you for your comment.
I don't think i'll be a "blogger" i will share personal stories from time to time. I am enjoying reading others blogs and contributing where i feel someone is actually making an effort, taking to heart what i've seen often on steemit is to upvote only quality content etc.
I know my vote isn't much but maybe someday it will be. cheers

Welcome on steemit, don't worry about what to post, just think what you are best at and enjoy most, which some already in your plan. Beside, it is not always about posting, comment other community member post and of course if you like it, give your upvote, is also consider as already beeing active in the community. In the platform you will find many other stuffs that you will find interesting and eventually become a way to get something to post, for instance utopian-io platform that link with steemit. There are many project that you could get involved with and share it to steemit. And many other thing that you'll figure it out along the way. So again, welcome on steemit, you definitely going to love it.

Appreciate your comment and guidance, thank you

Finding your zone in Steemit can be a bit tough. And avoiding starting down a spammy/scammy path is tough sometimes because so many leeches end up misdirecting new Steemians. I hope to avoid that.

I have a few tips for you......:

  • find a community. Maybe join the @minnowsupport project.

  • comment and follow other's articles for your first 1-4 months here more than you do your own posts. This will actually help you to gain Followers. And improve and refine your Posting style(by seeing other's good examples and bad examples).

  • don't plan to get rich. If you come for money, it will probably be a struggle.

  • it will still be a struggle when you are new.... for 2 or 3 months. As you meet more steemians and ask questions and figure things out, it will get easier.

  • only Post original work. Many new Steemians get into trouble when they copy and paste things from Google or from the internet, AND IT IS NOT their photo, writing or work. IF you can't post your own things, better not post. Otherwise @cheetah will get suspicious!

  • comment and make friends, but don't ask "Follow me" or "please Upvote me" Maybe after you have become friends... maybe. But never as your first, second or third comment to them. Never!

  • Use appropriate tags. If the tag doesn't match. Don't use it. Tags are important to help people find what they are looking for. Misusing tags causes many problems here on Steemit.

  • have fun!

I am a community volunteer. I try to stop SPAM and trash and things that hurt Steemit. IF you see anything like that, please feel free to let me know, I will look into it!

I'm finding your comments everywhere @public-eye
This is great though, thankyou.

One spot i'm unsure of is if a blog is your own content, but you need a picture to add to it, it is acceptable to grab one off google images as long as you link the source to it underneath the photo?

I was going to ask about @minnowsupport but that gets confusing too. there are bots that you can purchase upvotes for yourself, i see so many doing that.

To start i will join @minnowsupport and see where that leads. talk to you later 👍

In perfect copyright / plagiarism issue..... it normally is not okay to grab a picture from Google. But to be fair... I have done it 2-3 times. It can come back to bite you. If you use a photo that belongs to someone else. And later they do a search and see you used it... and see your post paid out $50 or $100. They can make a fair and legal claim for all or a portion of that reward. Or simply sue you for using it. This normally only happens if you are successful or make money off the blog(which at steemit, we do) but they are legally capable of suing just for using their image without asking. Each time and always that you can use pixabay.com or another free image site... that is 110% better and safer! IF you do otherwise.... do so with caution and restraint.

Amongst Steemit and Steemians... It seems to be allowed that you use others' photos as long as your post is the MEAT and the image is just the garnish. IF the image you borrow really "Carries" your post, then not really okay.

I see, another great and helpful comment, thank you.
