Never too Late to Start

in #introduceyourself6 years ago (edited)

Hi steemit,

I'll keep this quick and short. Name's Benny, Chinese-American, born and raised in New York. Currently an architecture student at Pratt Institute and I'm looking for a platform to showcase my work○○○

Well if you're actually interested, here is my story

)

After my first year of college, I had decided to take a break from my education to experience a little bit of life...on my own terms.

I learned, I played, I explored.

Although I quickly became accustomed and content with this lively lifestyle, it was lonely. Weeks and months started to speed by and soon time became a blur. My job at Gaonnuri, a high-end Korean restaurant in K-town NYC, had become so mundane, autonomous and above all, torturous. This story-line had hit a dead end.

Three years passed by quickly but luckily I was able to make my way back to Pratt. It's weird being a sophomore, while all your former classmates are in their thesis year and getting ready to graduate. But I'm grateful for all the familiar faces who were willing to give a helping hand. The transition back into a learning environment wasn't as smooth as I had planned it to be and it was definitely a little hectic.

Trying to have a good balance between school work, "work" work, and my personal life was and still is the epitome of my daily struggle as a responsible adult...

Aside from the constant dreadful feeling of lagging further and further behind my peers, it was a good year of learning. I was able to attend Pratt's graduation of 2018 and from the bottom of my heart, I wish all my friends the greatest of success in whatever paths they choose take.

Fast tracking to where I am currently

Around two weeks ago I attended an exhibition which a close friend of mine, @twotoedsloth, had invited me to. It was titled Crypto Renaissance, located in Bushwick, Brooklyn and put together by @sndbox, a company currently run by two architects, Michael Lee and Kirk Finkel. The focus was Steem, a currency that powers social media platforms that rewards its community for the content it creates. The project that stood out among all the others was Steem Park. To me, cryptocurrency is still tied with notions of disbelief and skepticism. So for something so intangible to be able to take an idea by real world people and to manifest it in the real world by creating a real world occupiable space... now that is eye opening.

I will be using steemit as a way of showcasing my ideas and design processes. My problem now is the lack of consistency, always being quickly entertained by an idea and just as quickly losing interest.

This is where I learn to define myself as a future architect and designer.
I look forward to sharing my work, learning from all your feedback and thank you for welcoming me into the community

Welcome to steemit @little-enso . I really like your dedication. Keep it up.

Hello little-enso! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!

Welcome nice to have you here , maybe you are lucky to be joining when steem is at a really low price . When price is low less people are posting and you have a better chance to earn steem . I highly recommend you post a lot and keep on posting . Till you get to at least 15 Steem Power. Don’t give up . I don’t recommend you buy Steem Power but I do recommend you post often till you get to 15 Steem Power. If you can not post go ahead and make sure to vote at least 6 times when you wake up and 4 times when you are going to bed. Don’t forget to get all your friends to do the same! I repeat I would never tell someone to buy 15 steem but honestly for 95% of the people here will only get to 15 if the buy them ! It’s up to you Good Luck with the choice you make

Hi Benny, welcome to steemit! I am @ichie1 and I’ll love to see your progress and success here.

Each day holds a surprise. But only if we expect it can we see, hear, or feel it when it comes to us. Let's not be afraid to receive each day's surprise, whether it comes to us as sorrow or as joy It will open a new place in our hearts, a place where we can welcome new friends and celebrate more fully our shared humanity.

Hey man! Welcome to steemit. From what I read, you're no stranger to steem concept, so I won't bore you with newbie stuff. I'm probably the first one to actually write a comment. Believe me, even the ones that look sincere, usually are copy/paste, yeah, I know, pretty sad.
Leaving school and going back, that's tough, I did it my self and it didn't go so well for me, so kudos to you. Sounds like you got a good grasp on "reality", I'm looking forward to seeing your work and your ideas. Have fun and don't take anything too seriously.
Must be nice to have friends in high places; couple weeks, one post and your rep's already at 41 :)
