Who is maple-thunder ?
That's me with a couple new friends I met while on a hike along the Skyline Trail in the Cape Breton Highlands. I'm a new programmer, interested in video games, amateur photography, history, and hiking. I'm not the best at taking pictures, but sometimes you just gotta try and capture the beauty of what you're looking at.
At home
I live on the east coast of Canada with my girlfriend and cat. They have breakfast together almost every day.
Gotta make a living ...
I work as a PHP/Drupal developer at a small web development company. On weekends (and some evenings) I also try to expand my knowledge of programming by either following tutorials or trying to build out an idea in a side project. Those don't have a great track record of getting finished though.
I will be writing about some of my side projects, and the journey from conception of idea all the way to the (hopeful) completion ! If you're lucky I might also write some posts about some hikes I take with my better half, and pepper some photos throughout the posts. ;)

There’s still photos from some hikes we did this past summer, but there won’t be many new ones this year. Hiking weather is pretty much at an end for the year around these parts.
We're sure winter will bring beauty too, but other then that, this community is open for everything, so bring it on :)
Welcome aboard, fellow Canadian! Looking forward to pics from the East Coast. It's one part of our fab country I haven't been able to visit yet!
It's definitely one of the more beautiful parts of the country I've been to (Spoiler alert, I haven't been to too much yet !), but that might change next year when I visit family in Alberta and get to see the Rockys.
Saw your comments about the state of gaming and could not agree more. Both Shroud of the Avatar and Star Citizen games are being developed without the likes of EA.

BTW Your password created 5 keys for you. By default you probably logged in with the "master" key. Not a good idea as it enables access to your $$$. It's better to log in with your Private POSTING key.

go to Profile >Wallet > Permissions and copy paste all FIVE keys to a safe place
then log out & log back in with POSTING key.
