Love seeing all these posts and figured I'd go ahead and introduce myself.
My name is Mark McCormick and am originally from Boston, Massachusetts, now living and working in northeast China. I am the executive director of the Y@SIT program in Liaoning, China, working with Dr. Yong Zhao from the University of Kansas. I've been here for almost 7 months, though I've lived in Mainland China for almost 8 years (off and on). I spent the previous seven years working in a study abroad research center located in Tianjin, China.
There's Clark Thomas, Wanyu Xiang, Dr. Yong Zhao and myself in June.
I am an avid reader, especially non-fiction. I love reading about social issues and social change. It's one of the reasons I love living in China. The speed at which China changes is absolutely mind-blowing. It's been an honor to see it up close and personal over the past decade.
I am married and have a son who is almost two. My wife and son are both from Kyushu, Japan, living in a farming community there. I spend a few months a year there with them. The solitude and the pure beauty of it actually takes my breath away at times. I'd be happy to write more about that if people are interested.
