Where to start, well we guess you could start with the insane idea to exist without relying on the system and by system we mean the idea that to be a good citizen one must work, eat and conform to the wishes of a corporation or government. On a less heavy note we are a young couple recently married and starting our dream of one day living in an off grid farm. This blog is meant to serve as a melting pot of ideas and a captain’s log so to speak. See we have chosen to be as independent as possible.
Now most young people our age spend the majority of their day working for some company that makes thousands of dollars a day but pays pennies, and the rest mindlessly adrift waiting for clicks and tweets. We spend our days a little different, we are busy tending chickens, beer and wine making, hydroponics, composting, window sill gardening, canoe building, and a collection of other DIY activities. Our mission is to be able to make as much as we can instead of buying, to essentially forgo money for time.
See money to us is an illusion, just a means of control and the more knowledge we have the more we can do. As a society, we give up our freedoms for something that has no real value. What we mean by this is that if you are stuck in 500 sq. miles of wilderness, a billion dollars is useless. But, knowing how to build a farm and feed one’s self in the wild has no comparable value. Sure we can say we don’t need these skills but the entire system and all its flash exist on something that without power wouldn’t be possible. These very words cease having a voice with the flick of a switch but paper and pen will still be here in the dark.
So with all that being said please always keep in mind, this is about our journey. It’s all just our opinion. Our goals may seem off base or messed up but our purpose is not to create argument or debate but instead a community that grows and expands its’ knowledge and reach through sharing ideas and expanding existing ideas to includes the thoughts and views of all involved. We hope that with enough people working towards a better simpler life style that we can make a difference even if it’s just in our day to day lives.
