Tuz Malone - Facts not fiction... And other sh*t

Well, I never thought any social network for a long time would have the ability to take over the juggernaut that Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit is until I discovered Steemit and the size of the community here!

Finally somewhere that doesn't sell your information for profit, doesn't have advertisements and marketing forced upon you, doesn't edit your feed to only show you what they want you to see, and ultimately allows the actual content creators of the network to make money, instead of the owners of the site taking most of the profit from other peoples hard work. I could go on and on about this but maybe I will save it for another post, this is meant to be an introduction right.

Why am I here

I've created blogs and websites in the past, put my own money into them without expecting anything in return other than to provide information or content that other people would enjoy reading or find useful, if I make a profit that's great but its never been my main goal. However I eventually always come up with the same issue, how do I keep the site running without bombarding people with useless advertisements or asking for donations to cover the costs?

Then I accidentally came across this place and the community here. A place where we have the freedom to create content in a way that benefits both the users and creators without worrying about advertising revenue or annoying the user's viewing the content with adverts everywhere. We can post whatever takes our interest, it doesn't matter if the content in that post is funny, informative, insightful or even controversial, if it has value and people like it you will see the benefits from that work. Even the people who like your content get a cut. This absolutely blew my mind which I'm sure it did to most people, it was like I had only just discovered the internet. "WTF is this!?" was my first thought "Is this even real??", "Sign me up, WHERE DO I SIGN UP!!" probably covers some of the rest.

Who am I

Online I might sometimes use the name Tuz Malone, I usually like to keep my online and personal life separate so I wont go into too much detail about myself. Some people are happy putting themselves out there and that's cool, I get that. I'll explain a bit about what I do, my background and interests though.

I'm a technical freelancer outside of the online world, I studied computer science at university with the debt to prove it and also have a mechanical background. My interests can be anything from scientific, philosophical, travel and photography related to IT, crypto, religion and drugs. I know some of these can be controversial subjects but I'm here to post what I find interesting and maybe others will be interested in too. I don't aim to offend anyone, that's the last thing I want but I will post my views and opinions which I'm sure some people will have their own views and opinions about. That's not a bad thing though, I'm always open to other peoples views and having my opinions and beliefs challenged by looking at things from a different perspective, you can learn a lot from that sometimes. A clever man is always open to changing his beliefs but a stupid man will always fight against it. Is that even a quote or did I just make that up in my head? Anyway I'm sure you get my point.

I do want to make it clear though that when it comes to making posts I'm not someone who will blindly throw information and facts around without checking if they are true first, or will never admit to being wrong and correcting myself, pretty much like the mainstream media does, so what I post will either be backed up by factual information that I will link to or I will point out that it is my own personal opinion so only take it as that.

The wrap up

So hello to everyone that's reading this! Steemit is definitely a game changer for social media and a pretty cool thing to be part of. Expect posts you probably didn't expect and remember to never take life too seriously.

Wow. What an awesome introduction! Looking forward to your unexpected content. Welcome to my current favourite ride/Social experiment. I love the way you described it. What you write here has inspired me to write an article about Steemit.

Btw, what is a technical freelancer?

Thanks Danny! Its nice to know already something I've done on here has inspired someone to do more, I look forward to reading the article. Your videos have done the same for me over the years and you're still making them which is crazy, most people would have moved on or given up by now so you deserve alot of credit for that.

I like to keep my online and offline stuff separate so I was trying to be a bit vague with what I do by saying technical freelance work. What I say online could affect the work I do if I was ever linked to it. Hopefully one day I wont have to worry about that though.

Welcome to Steem. Do read A thumb rule for steemit minnows - 50:100:200:25 for starter tips.
