According to history, a part of Kogi state precisely the Okun tribe is linked to the Yoruba kingdom and they speak Yoruba like people from Ile Ife which happens to be their real origin.

It's just like people from the French speaking country Benin Republic 🇧🇯 who speak Yoruba, but you dare not tell a Beninois that he is a Yoruba from Nigeria, else you'll get into a fierce debate
