He created the oceans for women!

There are plenty of verses and narrations that underline the status and importance of women in Islam.

However, one of the verses that really struck me was the reasons why oceans were created and one of the reasons were because of women.

Yes you heard me correctly. Allah said:

"And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful." (The bee, 14)

The scholars said that the ornaments are: pearls and corals. It is known that women adorn themselves more than men. And it is also known that men are not allowed to resemble women, in this way it might be disliked or forbidden for them to wear it, not because it is forbidden at the basis. All this to say that the women are intented in the first place in this Divine verse.

So look, how Allah honoured and blessed you by creating oceans for you. He taught men to build ships and conquer the oceans to catch fish you can eat, and taught others to dive in the depths of the shallows of the oceans to give you pearls and corals.

"And remember when your Lord said, if you are grateful then We will grant you more." (Abraham: 7)
