위 식물은 시골 산지의 냇가나 습한 곳에서 흔히 자라는 노루오줌이라는 식물입니다.
노루오줌이라고 불리는 이유는, 노루가 다닐 만한 산지에 주로 서식하면서 식물 뿌리에서는 오줌 냄새가 난다고 하여 붙여 졌다고 합니다.
오줌 냄새가 나는 이유는 곤충을 유혹하기 위해서라고 하는군요.
꽃은 7~8월에 연한 분홍색으로 피고, 9~10월이 되면 열매가 달리는데 갈색으로 변한 열매 안에는 미세한 종자들이 많이 들어 있습니다.
노루오줌의 연한 잎과 어린 순은 데쳐서 나물로 무쳐 먹거나 된장국으로 끓여 먹기도 합니다.
또한 민간에서는 예로부터 꽃잎과 줄기 및 뿌리는 채취해 말려서 달여 약으로도 사용해 왔는데, 소염, 진통, 타박상, 풍, 해열 등에 효과가 있으며, 감기로 인한 열 기침 두통 등에 좋다고 하는군요.
