Fuzz about Online Courses

in #learning3 years ago (edited)

Why is it that everyone is selling an "Online Course" nowadays?

People have made a mockery of education and learning. Rather than helping others, it has become more about monetizing a little extra knowledge that individuals have gained.

Every now and then we see someone launching their online courses, suddenly everyone has become a teacher.

Education is not about telling students what to do, it is about allowing them to observe, learn and implement in their own way.

These online courses are carrying forward the same old legacy of teaching, now we have more people telling us what to do and what not to?

We somewhere have to come out of this teacher-student mindset, learning has to be governed by our observation and not directed by some individual.

We must rise above this teacher-centric and student-centric education system, the time has come to be learner-centric.

As a kid, no one taught us how to speak our native language, we learnt by observing others, we didn't require any teacher for this. It means we can learn things by observing others.

But instead of promoting this, students were put through schools and colleges which made them handicapped, now students always look for a teacher or spoon-feeding.

Rather than teaching kids how they have to do a particular task they must be given the space to observe the possible ways of doing things and let them then decide what course of action they will take.

What if we have a platform where there are no teachers or students, just learners, where everyone is sharing their learnings and it is up to the learner's observation how they want to take the learnings?
