The People's Power urged the ruling party to express its position on the 26th, saying it would accept the Democratic Party's demand to conduct a parliamentary investigation into the prosecution's "abandonment of appeal for the Daejang-dong trial" at the National Assembly's Legislative and Judiciary Committee.
Floor leader Song Eon-seok made the proposal to the Democratic Party at an emergency press conference on the day. "The Judiciary Committee is willing to discuss the proceedings of the parliamentary investigation, considering that the special committee should be formed on the parliamentary investigation but the overwhelming majority is not listening to the opposition party's voice," floor leader Song said. "The Democratic Party should not say anything else and immediately proceed with the parliamentary investigation."
The ruling and opposition party's floor leaders have been negotiating several times over the prosecution's abandonment of the Daejang-dong trial, but the Democratic Party of Korea has failed to reach a conclusion by opposing the formation of a special committee at the judiciary committee level and the National Assembly's power to conduct a parliamentary investigation.
