
(Seoul = News 1) Reporter Shin Eun-bin = NAVER Cloud unveiled its 'Sovereign AI 2.0' strategy that enhances national competitiveness by applying artificial intelligence (AI) to industries and daily lives. Based on physical AI, it plans to help core industries transition to AI and narrow the AI gap by expanding technology accessibility.
NAVER Cloud CEO Kim Yoo-won held a session under the theme of "AI, Challenge for All" at the DAN25 keynote of Team Naver (035420) integrated conference held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 6th.
NAVER Cloud is developing an industry-oriented 'Sovereign AI 2.0' strategy based on the full stack AI capabilities it has accumulated so far. Sovereign AI 2.0 is a concept that extends AI application throughout daily life beyond simple AI independence.
"If existing Sovereign AI focuses on language and culture-oriented technology independence, Sovereign AI 2.0 is a concept that expands to the entire industry and daily life to enhance national competitiveness," CEO Kim said. "Naver is a company that deeply understands the language, data, and industrial structure of Korea, and is creating a new model for industrial AI transformation through Korean-style Sovereign AI 2.0."
Naver's super-large language model 'HyperClova X' evolves into an 'Any-to-Any' omni foundation model that can be applied in various industries.
Through the evolution of HyperClova X, NAVER Cloud plans to complete a next-generation AI system that can recognize and generate multimodals such as voice, image, map, and sensor beyond text. This is to flexibly provide optimized models according to the needs of each industrial site.
It will also introduce an upgraded version of the private cloud 'NuroCloud' in June next year for companies that want to safely operate data and AI.
"HyperClova X, which has evolved into the 'Annie to Annie' Omni Foundation model, will provide a variety of lineups needed for AI innovation by industry, from large models for cloud to lightweight models for physical AI," CEO Kim said.
NAVER Cloud is internalizing physical AI technology so that AI technology works in real industrial sites. It is a technology in which robots and machines recognize space and judge themselves.
To this end, Naver began researching robots and autonomous driving in 2016 and developed it into a physical AI based on a foundation model in 2021.
Based on these technologies and infrastructure, NAVER Cloud will expand its industry-specific vertical AI ecosystem. It will cooperate with major industrial companies such as shipbuilding, energy, and bio to support the use of AI in the entire manufacturing process, such as AI-based process operation, facility management, and quality prediction.
In addition, this industrial AI model has been expanded to an export-type structure to enter major markets such as Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Japan. AI models specialized in industrial sites in each country, such as Saudi's digital twin platform, Thailand's tourism AI agent, and Japan's care call service, were applied.
It will also expand technology access to areas where AI benefits are difficult to reach. It is contributing to the inclusive growth of underprivileged areas and classes by applying AI to healthcare, rural and welfare fields such as assisting the developmentally disabled, caring for the elderly, and agricultural AI.
CEO Kim said, "AI is a technology that opens up new possibilities beyond the limits of the industry," adding, "NAVER Cloud will open the era of AI for everyone by combining hyperscale (ultra-large) AI infrastructure and physical AI."
