Democratic Party Lawmaker Noh Jong-myeon Claims YTN Sale Was Driven by Kim Kun-hee’s Desire for Revenge
Noh Jong-myeon, a member of the National Assembly’s Science, ICT, Broadcasting, and Communications Committee from the Democratic Party of Korea, alleged that the sale of YTN to Eugene Group during the Yoon Suk-yeol administration was motivated by First Lady Kim Kun-hee’s personal vendetta. He supported his claim by releasing an audio recording.
During a parliamentary audit held on October 14, Rep. Noh stated, “It all began with YTN’s December 2021 report on Kim Kun-hee’s falsified credentials. That report caused a significant stir and led to Kim’s public apology performance.”
He continued, “Kim Kun-hee harbored a deep sense of revenge. She pressured public institutions, mobilized ruling party lawmakers, and lined up capital to ultimately sell off YTN.”
Noh revealed that he had obtained a crucial audio file to support his claims. “YTN had secured an interview recording with Kim Kun-hee during their exclusive investigation into her falsified resume. While parts of it were aired, I’ve managed to obtain the unreleased segments,” he said.
In the released recording, Kim Kun-hee is heard raising her voice at a YTN reporter, saying, “Don’t nitpick my words. This reporter is clearly trying to write maliciously about me. Are you threatening me right now?”
She also questioned, “Am I a public official? Do I really need to be scrutinized to this extent?” and added, “This is so unfair. Should I dig into the reporter’s background too? See if they’ve made any false entries?”
Regarding the allegations of falsified credentials, Kim said, “I just tried to make my resume look a bit more impressive. It shouldn’t be treated like a crime or something immoral.”
She also remarked, “I really need to get revenge too. This can’t go on.”
Rep. Noh concluded, “She had already vowed revenge back then, and once she gained power, she acted on it.”
Kim Kun-hee dreams of revenge simply because unfavorable news was reported and investigated about her.
Isn’t this kind of attitude exactly what we see in communist dictatorships?
I truly cannot understand why anyone would support or aspire to such a dictator.
When faced with a democratic administration that treats them fairly, they seem to go even more off the rails.
The only way forward is to investigate their illegal actions thoroughly over the next five years and bring them to justice.
