The Newcastle City Council in England held a hearing to lift Aung San Suu Kyi's honorary title. The Myanmar leader was judged unworthy of grace as a Peace Officer for allowing the massacre to continue in Rakhine. Seu Kyi was awarded the Newcastle Peacekeeping title in 2011 for her long struggle for democracy in Myanmar. But now he is silenced when the whole world shouted for the slaughter of Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine.

"He has done nothing to stop the genocide of Rohingya Muslims in his country," City Council Chairman Nick Forbes was quoted as saying by local media Itv.

The trial was held on Wednesday (7/2). This is the first time the City Council has revoked the honorific title already awarded.

Nick Forbes quipped Suu Kyi who no longer represents the spirit of the City of Newcastle that upholds solidarity and a sense of humanity.

"We are forced to take this step with remarkable regret that there is a voice that used to speak very loudly in the spirit of the people of this city, now choose silence," said Forbes.

This Newcastle Peacebuilder title is a prestigious award. Several prominent figures have received, among others, South African human rights fighter Nelson Mandela. Then there are Irish activists and musicians Bob Geldof and Andrei Sakharov, a Russian nuclear scientist who later turned to be a peace fighter.

Bob Geldof himself has returned the award to the City Council for being embarrassed by Suu Kyi's attitude. He was disgusted by this Myanmar leader's attitude to the slaughter of the Rohingyas.

"The relationship between Suu Kyi and our city is a shame, we used to respect her, and now she is so terrible and humiliating us," Geldof said.

Earlier in November 2017, Oxford City Council lifted the Freedom of the City award for Suu Kyi, who was awarded in 1997.

Oxford City Council Leader Bob Price condemns Suu Kyi's silent stance at the Rohingya massacre. St Hugh's College at Oxford University, where Suu Kyi studied politics, had already removed Aung san Suu Kyi's photo from the campus wall.

Dublin City Council members also decided to withdraw the Freedom of Dublin City award they were awarded to Aung San Suu Kyi.

Meanwhile, activists around the world continue to insist that Nobel Peace Prize Aung San Suu Kyi be revoked. He used to get it in 1991 for fighting for non-violent democracy.

One of the insistence came from the Organization of Islamic Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO).
In his statement ISESCO said Suu kyi "is not entitled to the title because of what he does in his country, under his leadership, against the Rohingya Muslim minority."

ISESCO is an institution founded by the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) in May 1979 and has 52 member states. The organization is headquartered in Rabat, Morocco and is chaired by Abdulaziz Utsman Altwaijri.
