Si Merah Yang Menyenangkan, Bunga Asoka --- Bunga Idola Anak-anak dan Kupu-Kupu ...
Kata "Asoka" berasal dari bahasa Sansekerta, yang berarti bebas dari kesedihan. Secara filosofi tepatlah bunga ini dijadikan penawar untuk hati yang sedang sedih.
Orang-orang Eropa sering menyebut "Flame of the Wood" atau api dari hutan karena warna bunganya yang cerah dan mencolok layaknya api.
jaman dulu Bunga ini menjadi primadona anak-anak. Tangkai bunga Ashoka dipetik,
lalu disedot di bagian bawah, ada cairan manis yang keluar dari situ, Seperti disebutkan di atas, bahwa bunga yang dipetik dan diisap akan terasa manis. Ini karena bunga ashoka banyak mengandung nektar. Jangan kaget kalau bunga sedang mekar, kupu-kupu akan senang dan ceria. Bunga Ashoka adalah bunga idola kupu-kupu.
Selain itu, bunga asoka juga bisa digunakan untuk pengobatan penyakit seperti disentri hemoragik dengan cara ditumbuk halus,
kemudian bunga ini juga bisa dipakai sebagai obat bagi orang yang haidnya tidak teratur, dan bisa mengobati luka memar dengan meminum air rebusan dari bunga asoka yang ditambah bunga mawar kering dan umbi daun dewa.
