Hey everyone, Today, I wanted to share a nostalgic journey with you, one that takes me back to my childhood. It all started with a massive jackfruit bought from a street peddler. It is huge and ripe perfect for this summer season here in the Philippines. We transformed the jackfruit sweet, juicy flesh into preserves for our favorite halo-halo desserts which is typical during the hot weather, but what about those seeds?
As I separated the seeds from the fruit and gave them a rinse, memories flooded back of days spent with family, cracking open jackfruit together. With a pot of water and a dash of patience, I boiled those seeds anticipating their nutty delicious taste I remember from childhood
After simmering for about 20-30 minutes, the seeds became tender, just like I remembered. Peeling away the outer shell revealed the creamy interior, evoking the flavors of my past.
These boiled jackfruit seeds are more than just a snack; they're a taste of childhood, a connection to tradition. Their nutty, slightly sweet flavor takes me back to simpler times, reminding me of the joy found in the simplest of pleasures.
So, next time you encounter jackfruit seeds, consider boiling them. Not only will you enjoy a delicious snack, but you might also find yourself transported back to cherished memories of days gone by.
Much love,
Ally
