Had Some Bad Weather Today! All Of This About A Mile Or So From My House

in #life2 years ago

I got up this morning knowing it was going to be a rainy day. I was prepared for that but some stuff I was not prepared for at all. Got an alert on my phone that a tornado was on the ground in my area, so we got all the kids to come from their houses on the property to come to our house and we sit to wait it out.

In about an hour the tornado warning was over and got an all-clear from the weather on the tv, the tornado warning was over and the wind and rain had died down a lot. We were sitting here and the kids were going to go back to their houses and the phone rang. A friend down the road about a mile had part of his roof ripped off of his house. He is 71 and we did not want him on the roof trying to roll back the tin roof and try tarp it by himself. He lives in a mobile home and has been there for 50 years or so.

We had another friend here so that friend, my son, and I went over to help him get it sort of covered and fixed up so it hopefully did not leak. Do not know how he will get it fixed as he does not have insurance because of the age of the mobile home. It is going to rain again tomorrow so hopefully, the trap and the quick fix we did will hold until we can figure something out.

There were other people that lost their homes today! Here is one where a tree fell into their house. The whole back of the house is busted up real good!

The mobile home had the tornado go right through it, at least that is what it looks like, and from what I understand he was in it when it happened. He was not hurt just kinda shook up! Yeah, I would be too!

Just some other pictures of what happened today!

That was a barn that got torn up the tin from the roof was across the street.

That is just one tree that was across the street as we went over to the friend's house to help him with the roof. We had to go the long way around to get to him and luckily there were no trees across the roads on that route. There was only about a square mile or so that the tornado hit. Just like it dropped out of the sky and stayed on the ground for a minute and was gone as quick as it came, leaving a lot of things torn up as it passed. On our property, we were lucky as we got some wind and really heavy rain but no trees down or houses were torn up on our property or the neighbors that were in our area. Our hearts go out to the people that had their houses torn up and we will keep them in our thoughts and hope they can get things fixed. All the houses barns and buildings can be fixed and replaced, no one was hurt and I am thankful for that! The power company was out getting the power lines back up and the fire department was out clearing roads, cutting the trees, and getting them out of the roads.

We have another round of this tomorrow but hope it is not like today was! I hope everyone has had a good day/night, whatever it is in your part of the world!
