BREAK THE HATE CHAIN // some piece of advise for this new week ahead

in #life6 years ago

More than often we are brought to a situation in which the other person we´re with might be having one of those days and is sure to vent it out, and more than often we catch up with those vibes turning our own mood of the day into a gloomy, heavy one.

When we catch up with these vibes, and go on with our day, we tend to go on but we go on spreading this negative energy, and just as easily as we caught up with them, many many people will do the same. Turning people into grey clouds as if it were some sort of vampire effect.

It is safe to say this is not only wrong but also sad, and it speaks heavily of how easily influenced we are. Breaking this hate chain and most importantly, evading the chain to even start with is NOT easy, but is is also not impossible.

I am someone who is commonly contaged with these chains but I am also someone who is working in being less easily influenced and evading those vibes to catch up with me. How do I do it? I´ll share that with you.

First of all, you need to change your mindset. When someone is venting with you remember they are only there for you to listen to them and hopefully share some useful advice, instead of being like a sponge absorbing all of that mood, start thinking on ways in which you would resolve their problems if you were in their place so that 1) you can be helpful to them and 2) you'll end up feeling good about doing good for so upgrading your own mood.

Also, you may be placed in situations in which the other person in not venting with you but exploding in front of you, not expecting any advice but only willing to spit out all of which makes them angry.

Those scenarios are the hardest ones for me, you require tons of patience and a lot of breathing to keep calm. You need to understand that the other person is upset, that the anger is the one speaking and that you should put yourself in an equal position to them but an above one. You need to be the bigger person, let them vent, breath in and out, listen to them and walk them slowly with words to a more peaceful place. So hard, I know, specially when all you wanna do is yell back, but honestly, when has that helped?

And for last, don not forget to breath, in a meditation course I took in India they explained to us how your own breathing is the key to it all. Mastering it is not so easy, and it takes some getting used to but once you learn how to control your breathing wonderful things will happen for your mood and for your health too.

Let's never forget that we are all human, and that if the problem we´re dealing with won´t matter in 5 years it is not worth giving it more than 5 minutes of our time.
