  • IVANA SPANOVIC

Španović earned gold medals at the 2008 World Junior Championships and the 2009 Summer Universiade. She was selected as Serbia's Best Young Athlete of 2008. She also won silver medals at the 2007 World Youth Championships, the 2009 European Junior Championships and the 2011 European U23 Championships. Španović participated in the qualifying round at the 2008 Olympic Games, and was a finalist at the 2012 Olympic Games. In 2013, she started at the European Indoor Championship when she was ranked fifth. At the World outdoor championship she had achieved the best result in her career by then, bronze medal with the new national record 6.82 meters. In 2014, she won the bronze medal at the World Indoor Championships and silver medals at the European Outdoor championship. Španović was second in long jump at 2014 Diamand League race. In 2015, she won her first gold medal as a senior athlete becoming European indoor champion with new national record 6.98 meters. She won the second bronze medal at the World outdoor championship, improving her national record twice, both in qualification (6.91) and the final (7.01 got twice). Španović was second in long jump at 2015 Diamand League race. In 2016, during the indoor season, Španović won the silver medal at the World Indoor Championships. In 2017, she had an impressive win at European indoor champion in Belgrade.

  • MILORAD CAVIC

Čavić represented Serbia at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, People's Republic of China in two swimming events. Even though he qualified for the 100 metre freestyle semi-final Čavić withdrew in order to prepare for the 100 metre butterfly. On August 14, 2008 at the Beijing Olympics, Čavić broke the 100 meter butterfly Olympic Record during the preliminary heats, finishing ahead of Michael Phelps and also recorded the fastest time in the semi-finals. Čavić came in second to Phelps by 1/100 of a second in the final, which was also the first medal for Serbia.

The Yugoslav Olympic Committee declared the national volleyball team to be the best male team of the year in 2000, and the Olympic Committee of Serbia did the same in 2010 and 2013. Traditionally, the Serbian national team is one of the dominant powerhouse nations.

The Olympic Committee of Serbia declared the women's national volleyball team the best female side of the year from 2006 to 2011. Serbia earned a silver medal at the 2016 summer Olympics in Women's Volleyball.

FINA considers Serbia the inheritor of the records of Serbia and Montenegro, and Yugoslavia. They are considered one of the world's best water polo teams in the history of the game, having gold medals in Olympic, World and European Championship, World Cup, FINA World League and Mediterranean Games. 2016 Serbia's national team is widely considered to be the best team in the history of the game being holders of 5 gold medals in 5 different major competitions at the same time. They are Serbia's most successful national team, having won more titles than all other Serbian national teams combined. In 2016, they became the first team to hold titles in all existing major championships: European Championship, World Championship, World Cup, World League and the Olympic Games.

  • BASKETBALL

The Serbian men's national basketball team is controlled by the Basketball Federation of Serbia. Serbia is currently ranked third in the FIBA World Rankings. The national team made its comeback to the international scene at the EuroBasket 1995. in Greece, where the national team won the gold medal after defeating Lithuania in gold-medal game. The national team won the gold medal at the EuroBasket 1997, 1998 FIBA World Championship, EuroBasket 2001 and bronze medal at the EuroBasket 1999. One of the most notable wins of the Yugoslavian national team came in the quarter-finals of the 2002 FIBA World Championship, when the host nation of the tournament United States was eliminated with 81–78. A new generation led by legendary Dušan Ivković returned some of the old glory by taking the silver medal in Eurobasket 2009, and fourth place in the 2010 FIBA World Championship, with the youngest team. Following the EuroBasket 2013, Ivković stepped from the position and Serbian basketball hall of famer Aleksandar Đorđević stepped in. Đorđević led the team to three silver medals at the 2014 FIBA World Championship the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2017 EuroBasket.
