Consider the following before deciding to leave.
  1. Walking or running when an earthquake occurs is very dangerous. The floor or the ground is shaking. A number of studies in Japan show, walking or running, even just three meters when an earthquake will significantly increase the risk of injury.

  2. Sheltering under the table is one way to protect you from objects that can fall due to an earthquake.

  3. The first time the floor or ground shakes, you don't know how big the earthquake will occur. So, if you want to leave where you are, then you risk falling or being hit by an object.

  4. Earthquakes do not last long. How fast you can leave the building when the floor or stairs move and shake without you being able to predict. Plus there is a possibility that you will be hit by falling objects while running down and out of the building.

  5. Objects can also fall outside the building. So it's not that simple to leave the building. You have to go far from the buildings and surrounding buildings. Falling materials, such as bricks and glass, can kill people who are outside during an earthquake.

  6. If the building collapsed or collapsed, strong furniture or a bathtub can provide an area that allows you to survive until the SAR team officers can find you. If you try to walk to a place, chances are you cannot find objects to take shelter.

In the United States and Japan, the risk of falling and being hit by falling objects increases by going to the emergency stairs. So, staying in your place and looking for objects that can protect you is the best choice.

If the earthquake stops and you are sure the condition is safe, you can exit the building.
