What?... is your comment?!

in #life5 years ago (edited)

It is hard to reply to comments, when they are pointless and empty!

Bland comments go something like this:

Liked your post it was interesting keep it up”

  • These words aren’t a comment… because it doesn’t actually say anything about the post’s actual topic.
  • Yes, they are been polite, but what did they really like about your post? What was it that stirred their interest? Did they learn anything from it? What was so fascinating?

Also notice:

There were no full-stops or comas in that string of words above! So you don’t know the end or beginning of the statements involved, for starters.

  • Without full-stops and comas, the sentence is not easy to read or understand. And most frustrating for the author to reply to it.

Repeated comments:

  • When comments are copied and repeated several times from what other people have already said about the post… the same bland comment tends to be borrowed, repeated and  occur all the way down under the post in the listed comments section…
  • …that becomes rather annoying, because of the thoughtlessness and then the laziness of the repeaters. The author of the post… doesn’t want to repeat their answer either!

You want to know:

As the author, you want to know what they really liked about the post. And why it was so interesting for the person? The reason why you want to know is because:

  • First: If you know their thoughts on the subject, you will have some idea how to respond to their comment.
  • Second: If they make sensible and tangible remarks about the post, you can tell they actually thought about what they read.
  • If people add their prognosis on what was said in the post, it is easier to follow their trend of thought.
  • If you know what interests people, you have a better idea(s) what to write about in future

Blind comments:

Then you get people who repeat the same old comment for all the posts they see and click on! Multiple times, no matter the topic!

Sorry the wrong topic!

As the author, you generally write on different theme topics, on certain days of the week.

And then you get these same senseless comment coming up every time a blog is posted, no matter that it doesn’t actually apply to the present topic…

  • Comments go something like this: “See you enjoy adventure. Your trip was most interesting” But in fact the topic wasn’t about adventure or travel. It was about money!
  • That shows the person didn’t frankly read the post before making the comment. And hasn’t registered the fact, you’ve written on a different topic this time. That’s thoughtless and rude.
  • It also shows that the person’s only reason for leaving a comment in the first place, is that they’re were just looking for up-votes and followers.

***If the author gets wrong topic comments, and bland empty or senseless comments, it’s only fair, that there is less likely-hood of getting a reply to their comment or even an up-vote!

***If people really want to build up their own site with followers and up-votes, they need to interact with more lively upbeat interesting comments that build one-on-one, face-to-face, type of conversations with other people.

Interchange of comments:

  • The way and how you relate to-one-another can build friendships.
  • If the author understands the comments, they find it easier to replay to each comment, with an interesting fact or two, thus adding something more to the topic in hand.
  • When people out there, get to know that more interesting facts can also be found in the comments, they will likely read all the way down the comments listing as well. The result is that that site becomes like a club where everyone wants to be and see what’s happening there.
  • When the author of the post replies to your comment, and is friendly and interested in you personally and what you say… you are more likely to come around again and again. Isn’t that so?

What are your personal thoughts, reasoning and input on this topic?

How do you handle senseless, empty, uninteresting and repeated comments when they occur on your posts?

I totally agreed with you, comments should be form the bottom of our heart in appreciating what the writers have written, it might be to compliment or add value to the picture the author has already painted in his or her post.

To me, many comments not to add value to the piece posted but for the purpose of getting upvote and better still get noticed. But we they really get noticed? if they equally get what they wanted, upvote. Is answer is capital NO. I will just say this, it is good to build relationships with the authors but how? through Meaningful comment. Thanks for sharing your mind.

Thanks so much for saying that. I really appreciate your input.
Many would take my post as controversial... but I felt someone has to say it, if we want our Steemit platform to be the place to be.

people that often indulge in such attitudes don't know that they aren't doing themselves any good, as it won't make the author trust them talkless of checking out their blog. We really need to learn from one another, that is life, I respect your opinion and I like how you acted simple. Some people would rather take actions instead of voicing out. Such action could be downvote On the comments but you didn't act that way. Steemit will be good for us all if we can decide to learn from one another.

You are great author and all your posts very useful but as you said people give comments not useful

I love hearing from others and what they really think about, this or that.
Life is a two-way street, if we want to build friendships.

Most authors suffer from these problems alot of spamm people here from india and same countaries they only looking for upvotes

Spammers don't realize they would get more up-votes and followers if they participated more fully.

I agree with you 100% There are scammers looking to upvote only

You are right. Most people who reply to posts, are basically looking for up-votes.
But the amount of followers count too. How we relate, is how we gather followers, or not.

@artguru its very easy you should punish any one only looking for get upvote from you if the comment has nothing to do with the topic then not upvote the comment

You know, I really enjoy receiving comments and relating to everyone. I wish more people relate their input and what they enjoy. So I could produce what they are really looking for.

I understand you thats becouse you are very kind give what people want

Thank you for your kind words.
I try to please everyone, by answering their comments. But not everyone understands how much I care. If I didn't care, I wouldn't be here on Steemit, sharing what I know, etc.

I think steemit platform should take Strict procedures to get rid of this people

But let us first give them a chance to overcome their mistakes.

That's a great post to provide in this platform really I happy now to see your post..thanks for sharing your valuable post..

What did you consider helpful? A better way to make comments, what?
Do you think comments should be more interactive?
Do you think Steemit folks should improve the quality of their comments or what?

You not always need to replay to comments ..

I know. But it's nice to make connections with people that were so kind as to make time and effort to make their comment.

I for my part always seek to make any kind of comment, opinion or criticism in an original way and what I really think. You are right in your publication, every day we find very short or empty comments that really do not convey that feeling that at least you took the trouble to read the post! The idea is to provide good "feedback" in this community.

Glad to have your input and thoughts on the topic.
The whole idea of this platform is social interaction. Up-votes are a bonus! Like been paid for providing worthwhile posts. Posts that inform and provide entertainment.

Yes!! I agree with you @artguru..
Your contribution so very attractive.. thanks for sharing the details..

I totally agree. Though I think newbies most times are never taught on how to give thorough comment instead just drop in what they feel like. Thank you I have and will put that in consideration:))
