Time in the woods, disconnected completely from tech and online stuff, has been actually proven to be excellent for humans and I try daily honestly, to remind people of this.
I do it myself.
It is VERY good for your overall health, it is discussed often with some clinical evidence in my series:
The above photo is me making char out of wood, in a small Altoids tin, where you put the wood, in the box, in the fire...the gases burn out of the wood, basically leaving you with char coal or cloth if you use 100% cotton.
We do this to leave a stash of easy to light / easily combustible tinder to start fires quickly and easily in the future. Always keep your bushcraft / camping kits topped up and tidy and ready to go.
In the cold, or the rain, or an emergency, this is when these things COUNT the most.
Today I was reminded of some of my time in the woods yet again by Fascistbook Memories...... just about the only thing Fedbook is good for, apart from staying in touch with a handful of people while being surveilled by the Police State.
There I am again, wearing the same shirt and headband just to the centre-left of the big blue cooler and the fire, under the shelter.
My hammock for the weekend was set up about 400 feet away, in the bush, away from the crowd we had gathered there.
Thanks for reading, have a nice day.

Please note -- I will have limited internet access for awhile -- so PLEASE do not be upset that I cannot reply right away, or to everyone. I am dealing with some changes, and will have limited time online and will be happy if I get a few blog posts up a week.

Really love that 3rd image about not having a better connection in the forest. Lately, I've been experiencing a lot more desire to be outdoors since I spend so much time in front of computers. Also, love the first image. I thought you were making charred cloth, but I wasn't too far off 😎 Keep it coming! I'm going to follow you now.
I had made a pile of char cloth that year, this weekend, I think I made about 25 tins of char / wood here, gave some to one of the youths with our camp that weekend.
They are all in air tight containers still, keeping the moisture out!!
And some in my fire kit always too.
Followed back.
I see you are new on here!!!!!
Welcome to Steemit!!
If you check your Rep. score, you commented here and were at 25.
I gave you a full power UV / upvote and look at that jump...... now, you are at 34!!!!!
(:
I always try and help new people here, that is one real good way we can help each other.
Wow! Thank you so much! How do you give full power upvotes?
When you get a little further along, you will see a vote slider appear and you can control 1 to 100% voting / every time if you like.
Right now, all the minnow votes for smaller accts only have full power UV.
I have had help along the way, we should help each other here and I always remember it and am thankful.
Thank you for the guidance :) I'm sure I'll get the hang of things as we go. I look forward to seeing more of your posts. Thank you again for taking the time and the full power UV.
Look up #Steemit101 or Steemit 101 on here, it will help you. Some stuff I have put together over the last 11 mths here and there -- it is not always easy to find due to the search engine here.
You are welcome my friend.
You are welcome my friend. I put up about 4 posts a day here on average so you will see me around
LOL
Love it! A couple weeks ago I decided to unplug from social media and it was invigorating to say the least. I think people get addicted to it in a way that is very unhealthy. Less screen time, more green time is good for anybody!
Dude, I honestly was giving thought to you an hour ago, when I put the post up and was offline for a few mins. Honestly.
I just gave you a full power UV on here also, like the other fellow, it helps the rep scores, we need to get you to 50 pronto LOL
Thanks man! Yeah it has been slow goin lately. Trying to get my business out of the red and keep a social media presence is more work than I could have ever imagined.
I was happy when I saw your name on here.
Crypto meets the woods
LOL
It's very true.
Frankly I am about 30 weeks/episodes into my #DigitalDetox series I mention here and the things I have continued to learn about tech addiction etc etc has been astonishing from a clinical / societal / psychology etc POV.

Disclaimer: I am just a bot trying to be helpful.
I'm never very connected to the tech or the web except when I sit down in front of my computer at night. I don't have any mobile devices except a basic flipphone, and I don't carry that on me unless I'm expecting an important phone call or travelling on the road. I value my disconnected time. I grew up in a time where cellphones did not exist and computers were room sized. I was an adult when the Atari 2600 came out. I don't mind not being part of the Borg collective.
I had to come back and give this an UV, it was a really good comment!!
so many great lines by you in there, it was hard to pick just one sister.
I do it all the time even by myself, I just get the urge that its time to go for an adventure in the woods and do it. I spend a lot of time in nature! Some people don't understand why I have to dissapear once in a while lol
Teach them!!!!!!!!!!
I am glad you get away, that is for sure.

In your photo you look like Sean Penn, dude!
I did a post months ago here about that actually.
If you search my user name here + Sean Penn you will find it, it is pretty funny with some side by sides of us both.
I like your post very good friend, keep going
Thanks for taking time for me today.
"You won't find wifi in the forest but I promise you will find a better connection."
(:
Don it is always nice hearing from ya brother.
Technology breaks are super important @barrydutton... always glad to see you recommend them to folks.
I think we spend WAY to much time being connected to our technology, these days. Even if all I can get around to doing is yardwork, I still unplug a little every day. And if it's raining, I'll do something creative/artistic that's AWAY from the tech. And no, the phone is nowhere in sight!
I approach each day much the same actually. I say enough of this, regularly each day, 2-3x and get away from it all period.
I also try to stick to my 10 pm / offline time each nite as well.
It is always nice to hear from you man.
I do my best to remind people about this stuff every week in my own way.
Totally agree. I spend my working life in front of a computer screen.
Luckily I work from home and even more luckily we have our own small woodland so my screen breaks become tree breaks. On a sunny day there really is no better way to chill down then just sitting silently amongst the trees. Gradually you begin to hear more and see more of every little part of nature around you.
Tree time is Me time 😊
Best line of the day on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Followed!
Thank you.
so important to disconnect and be in nature and this is a fun post! I do this regularly but for a day at a time, hopefully soon I can do it for longer. Anyway, thanks once again for your enjoyable posts!
It is my pleasure, thanks for taking time for me today.
I love off-grid living.. It's truly peaceful and rewarding. :)
The state needs to just leave people alone.
We know what they are up to!
I hear there's a whole world out there, beyond the computer screen... :)
Hey buddy, I am literally drafting a post now, in your honour, the title is inspired by you and our recent chats @clayboyn.
(:
Loved going camping when I was younger, can't wait till my son is of age to go on camping adventures again.
Teach him about quality EDC / Every Day Carry items as a base and he will thank you for decades!!
I love that quote by Horace and I love that post. You should put more picture of yourself as thumbnail. You happy looking face made me click.
Take care Barry and I hope you had a nice detox. I'll need one soon enough when things settle back a bit for me.
Hey my man, it is always a highlight of my week hearing from you --- I see a couple comments this week by you and I love seeing your comments on my blog encouraging me, or knowing you got a laugh etc.
I am drafting a post now which I think you will also approve of.
A bit funny. Our matching shirts again. a street named Liberty.
Thanks for stopping by man. I still try and be offline by 10 pm EST each nite as best I can stick to that.
We can Detox together when you are done with your family visit and you can Steem On from my wi-fi from the hammock shelter
(:
Thanks again for the encouragement and help along the way, it has honestly made a difference in my life.
I definitely try to get my husband to go out more often than he does, but I can only do so much! Thankfully for me, I feel a good disconnect when I am working on my animals, cleaning their coops, staring at them, and jut spending time. I'm outside during all this, so that counts, right??
People that do not understand how much work that all is, might wonder but not me LOL.
It counts LOL!!!
Hehehehe glad you get it!
I do, believe me.
The tranquillity of the woods . I liked the image about no WiFi but you will find a connection! Yes!!
Honestly I am still thinking about your peaceful shot from the hammock recently you shared Miss O.
I think you will like my post I am putting up now.....
Say hi to @cryptofunk for me. Again, sorry I have not been off my blog a lot but I am thinking of you guys.
... and all the rain there hahahahaha~~~~
(:
Check out this artsy picture one of my friends on here made for me based on some of my recent photos/blogs LOL!! Neat!!!
... and with you.
Your fella just reminded me of your store for Crypto swag, I was about to send you this msg LOL from the post about my shirt today:
Do you have any legit, non scammy sources that have extra crypto shirts and swag laying around or that would / does sell it????
I need some legit, crypto swag. So I can continue to wear and promote things I believe in.
I would rather support people I know but not sure if the shipping from the UK to here would just kill the whole "affordability" thing unless they drop ship from on this side of the pond....
I think redbubble sends the orders to the closest place to be printed I think they have multiple printers that they use- but you'd have to check shippng costs for you.
On their site they say:
I was thinking of making a couple more designs in the style of some of my other crypto art- let me know if you have any suggestions of which ones.

Love the concept, "Disconnect to Reconnect" We take Sundays off for some quite time....
I love it.
