Everyone knows about the big problem, indonesian islands are facing since many years. And those who have been there saw it with their own eyes. Islands like Bali, Lombok and Java are drowning in Plastic waste.
Since many years they´re trying to minimize the problem with regular beach clean ups and education of the local as well as foreign people. But this helps little to nothing. Many people claim it's too late already.

But in december 2018 Bali's government finally decided to prohibit the sale and use of single use plastics like straws, plastic bags and styrofoam. The law was signed on 21.12.2018 and comes into force in 6 months.
Producers and shop owners must therefore replace plastic with other, biodegradable materials. And some of them have already started by handing out biodegradable bags.
Im Dezember 2018 entschied die Regierung von Bali schließlich, den Verkauf und die Verwendung von Einwegkunststoffen wie Strohhalmen, Plastiktüten und Styropor zu verbieten. Das Gesetz wurde am 21.12.2018 unterschrieben und tritt in 6 Monaten in Kraft.

I saw a video about these bags the other day and did they same test like in the video. The test shows that the bag dissolves in water within minutes.
It actually worked. I used warm water to speed up the process. The bag changed its consistency the first time it came into contact with water and completely dissolved within a few minutes.
Ich habe neulich ein Video über diese Taschen gesehen und den gleichen Test gemacht wie im Video. Der Test zeigt, dass sich der Beutel innerhalb von Minuten in Wasser löst.
Es hat tatsächlich funktioniert. Ich habe warmes Wasser benutzt um es ein wenig zu beschleunigen. Die Tüte hat schon beim ersten Kontakt mit Wasser die Konsistenz verändert und sich innerhalb von ein paar Minuten komplett aufgelöst.
I really do hope that other shops are following and that these new laws show some effect in a few years!
Until then you should do without plastic as much as possible. There are already many alternatives, such as Straws made of aluminium or bamboo, drinking bottles made of aluminum etc.
Ich hoffe wirklich, dass andere Geschäfte folgen und dass diese neuen Gesetze in einigen Jahren Wirkung zeigen!
Bis dahin sollte man so gut es geht auf Plastik verzichten. Es gibt schon sehr viele Alternativen wie z.B. Strohhalme aus Aluminium oder Bambus, Trinkflaschen aus Aluminium usw.

Interessant zu sehen, dass die Umstellung auf umweltfreundliche Alternativen dort schneller geht als in Deutschland. Das mit dem vielen Plastik ist echt übertrieben worden. Vieles wird auch vollkommen unnötig in Plastik eingeschweißt. Dein Experiment ist echt beeindruckend, auch wenn ich zugeben muss, dass es nicht ganz so appetitlich aussieht ;)
ja da hast du Recht. Liegt vermutlich daran, dass Menschen erst dann anfangen zu verstehen wenn es schon "zu spät" ist. Wie gesagt, man muss das hier mal gesehen haben.
Das krasseste was ich je gesehen habe, war eine geschälte Banane in Plastik eingeschweißt. Da weiß man dann wirklich nicht mehr ob man lachen oder heulen soll.
Finde ich grundsätzlich gut aber klingt etwas unpraktisch bei Regen.

Ging mir zueletzt hier ähnlich denn bei Edeka gibt es nur noch Papiertüten- keine Chance bei einem Rgenschauer :-)

so sehe ich dass auch. Uns wurde übrigens am Tag drauf in einer Bäckerei die selbe Tüte nur größer gegeben. Es scheint also voran zu gehen.

Uou! Great initiative! But I still prefer the idea to be reusable, like cloth bags for example. In Thailand, where I am now, sometimes it's so hard to avoid plastic ... It's everywhere!

Zum Thema "kompostierbare Beutel" fallen mir doch auf Anhieb diese Tüten an die in D angeboten werden, um deinen Biomüll zu sammeln bevor er hinaus in die Tonne kommt. Die darf nämlich gar nicht in die Biotonne ;)
stimmt, davon hab ich auch neulich erst gehört. Und die Papiertüten weichen zu schnell durch!
