Have you thought why Fortnite is taking the gaming world like a storm? Wait, let me rephrase my previous sentence "Why battle royale games like Fortnite and PUBG is driving the gaming community crazy and why everybody loves those?", maybe I might have found an answer. Isn't it like what happens in the real world!! How?? Well you might think me as a crazy gamer obsessed with games. No, i'm not.
Let's come to real life now. What's life? "Survival of the fittest" according to Darwin. Well that phrase makes sense, absolute sense. You came to this world, went to school, there you have to be good in studies to get to a good college, there also be good to get admission in a good university, again the same cycle repeats here to get job or to get admissions in masters degree of your choice. Do you find anything common here? Like some kind of loops or recursive functions. Yes, everything is repeating and the main obstacle is none other than your peers and friends and colleague. Don't get me wrong here but in school when you got those highest marks or stood first in class but, against whom?? Your friend, your classmate. So my point here is we fight to survive and survive to get rewarded.
Now let's come to Fortnite or overall battle royale genre of games. Whom are battling against? Maybe someone at the other end of the world. Do you know him? No. Without knowing the other players we are just fighting to get the #1 position or to get the chicken dinner. Doesn't this resemble our life as I mentioned above except here the competitors are unknown and so the battle is more fierce. Winning a game or match has no significance (not talking about Ninja or other streamers) for an average gamer it's just a temporary happiness of few minutes, just like those high school rank #1' s.
So according to me this genre is exploding like anything with no sign of stopping because it give the adrenaline rush of killing someone, dodging bullets, happiness of winning within those few minutes. All these excitements are also there in real life (no talking about killing) too but it takes years to achieve that #1 in life.
NOTE for the uninitiated-
Fortnite & PUBG are a category of online games where all the players are dropped in an island, they have to search for weapons kill one another to get that top spot.
Both these games are different from one another.
