DIY yard games post #2!

in #life7 years ago

Hey! Back with another super fun yard game. Now the first time i played this we were camping in tawas, MI. about a month ago and we had hours of fun... for 3 days we couldnt stop playing.. and yes it is already a game you could buy but i think its more fun to make yourself and feel the satisfaction when your friends and family are extatic over your work!
Heres a few pics from my trip to tawas to start then ill get into building the game and the rules.

Ok so if you look back to the first picture.. that was when i built my game.. its actually a real game called "kanjam". Its awesome. I didnt want to spend $40 though so i found a 4'x8' sheet of formica(counter top laminate) to build it with. Ive also used a sheet of "frp at my dads so he has one now too....
First draw out the dimensions on the backside of whatever material youre going to use .
Heres the dimensions- 20" tall x 16"diameter, which converts to a 20" x 50.25" rectangle.
You want a bit of overlap when you roll it into a tube so i went with 20" x 56.25" for a 3 inch overlap so you can drill holes in it and fasten it with rivets, nuts and bolts, duct tape, whatever works.
The slot cut into it starts 5" from the top and ends at 8.5" from the top and is 12" wide.
Make two of them as it is a team game, 2 teams of 2.
Your game is made! Played with a frisbee
THE RULES - direct hit on the bucket = 2 pts.
If your teamate deflects your throw into the side of the bucket = 1pt.
Teamate deflection into the cylinder through the top of the bucket = 3 pts.
Direct throw through the slot = automatic instant win!
The key is deflection. Catch or trapping in your hands to hit the bucket you get no points. Its more of a slap of the frisbee to redirect it. First to 21 wins!
