It is a very fine balancing act for sure. I don't want to look like a shady scrub but I don't want to really focus on the material stuff. It also depends on the situation in which I meet them for the first time. That can really dictate how much they know from the start. I just try to focus on being fun and tell them enough to let them know that I'm a computer nerd who also likes sports. That is usually enough for them to find my intellect interesting.
