If you died today would you go to Heaven?

First and foremost thank you, and peace be with you brothers and sisters. This life is a journey, and the Bible tells us that only a few of us will make it to Heaven, and that only a few will find their way. Matthew 7:14 – Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there that find it. These words are straight from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We know how difficult it is then if the Lord our God said it. This is the world that the Lord has made, but the ultimate deceived Satan runs rampant throughout it. Ever since the beginning of Creation we see how humans struggle with temptation. Even when paradise was promised to man and woman (Adam and Eve), we fall short of Gods glory through temptation. Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Later the Apostle Paul reminds us of hope through Jesus in Romans 5:8 – But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice for each and every one of us. He died on the cross for the sins of the world, descended in hell, and on the third day he rose again from the dead. God sent His son as the ultimate sacrifice for all sinners of this world, performing the most unselfish act. Praise be to God!

Many people get confused with Christianity in the sense that there must be good works to get to Heaven. The main reason I hear often is, “Well I’m a good person, so I think I’ll go.”(when it comes to eternity, I wouldn’t gamble with salvation) These are common misconceptions of ways to get to Heaven. The real way to get to Heaven is actually pretty simple. Romans 10:9-13 – That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confess is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For these is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Paul here speaks nothing of being a good person, he speaks nothing of good works, he so eloquently explains that all we must to do be saved is believe in Jesus Christ.

In today’s society people make it seem that if we are good to one another we will be saved. Jesus taught us to be this way in Luke 6:31 – And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. While He was on earth he taught us how we should be. Everything you need to know to help you resist temptation, Jesus teaches us in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Use these chapters, and the rest of the Bible as a staple to you everyday life. You might have heard the saying, “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop.” To combat this read the Word of God. Psalms 1:3 – But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. As a matter of fact, just read Psalms 1 in its entirety. It’s short and sweet, and gives us a perfect example to combat the flesh’s sinful distractions.

In conclusion, be mindful that even while we can be good people, and while good to others, we are still sinners. We are weak, and easily tempted by Satan. Remember Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. There is hope brothers and sisters. Finally, I just want to leave you with this Bible verse in Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Keep your mind and thoughts on Jesus Christ and His Word, and the evils of this world will become much easier to flee if you meditate on the Holy Spirit.

If you have read this and haven’t yet accepted the Lord into your heart please say this prayer with me.
Lord I have sinned, and fall short of your glory. I pray you would cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I accept the gift of your son Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for sending Him so that I may be saved. Help me from this day forward to strive to be like Him. Keep me from all temptation. I pray this in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
