This summary is part 2 of the book that includes success stories, sayings, and Biblical verses. I found it very inspirational, and that is why I decided to share it with you.
One should not worry if a person laughs at what we do, because we should remember that it is only a game. All of the ideas should be taken into consideration with great sincerity, and none of the ideas should be disdained.
The objective of imagining possibilities in this game should be taken seriously, and one should greatly concentrate in achieving one's goal. One example of an idea that had occurred when a group of surgeons were sitting at the round table discussing if it was possible to build an artificial heart is when Norman Shumay a famous heart transplant surgeon, said that it was possible to make an artificial heart, and it was possible. They were able to place the motor source outside of the thoracic box, and it could feed on interchangeable batteries, and it could also have two back up batteries that could always be connected as a safety device.
Another way of thinking positive is to get rid of having the fear of failure, and continue ahead with one's goals. Sigmund Freud a famous psychologist saw that the goals that were not reached caused anxiety and frustration, and that leads to sickness. Victor Frankl another psychologist from Vienna saw that thinking positively; one was able to concentrate more in reaching one's goals, because the lack of goals got rid of the sense of livening life. According to Robert Schuller, one should get rid of one's fears so then we can reach our goals, and one can achieve this by following these steps:
- Failure does not mean that we have not accomplished anything, is that we have learned something.
- Failure does not mean that we have suffered the discredit is that we were exposed in trying it.
- Failure does not mean lack of being capable of doing something, is that we should do things in a different way.
- Failure does not mean that we are inferior it means that we are a perfectionist.
- Failure does not mean that we have lost our lives but that we have good reasons to start all over again.
- Failure does not mean that we should give up but rather we should fight with all our might to achieve our goals.
- Failure does not mean that we will never be able to reach our goals but that we are going to take a little longer in achieving them.
- Failure does not mean that God has abandon us, but that God has a better idea for us.
One has to eliminate fear from one's thoughts. There are two things that dominate our emotions: faith or fear. One should never give in to fear but be brave. In the Bible it mentions a lot of verses where it says to be brave, and it also mentions in the Bible the expression of "do not fear" in 365 verses. These are a couple of examples: “Do not fear when you walk through the waters it will not drown you. When you pass through fire, it will not burn you... Because I God, I am your Savior."(Isaiah 43:1-3).
"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. (Joshua 1:9).
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power,, and of love, and of a sound mind."(2Timothy1:7).
- Fear is a paralyzing force.
- We should get rid of our fears before they take over us.
For example when the New York Mets was the laughing stock in the world of baseball, but their fans continued having hope in them that one day they were going to win, and they did win the World Series in 1969.i was seven years when that happened, and I remember it if it had happened yesterday. It was a very emotional day when for me and my family enjoyed the victory of the New York Mets. My dear father has always been a devoted fan of the team. By not having fear of failure the New York Mets were able to win the World Series.
Other important sayings to keep in mind that I found in the book are:
"A true friend is one that does not abandon you and everyone else has. The best type of person is one that attentively comforts you to see if everything is all right, and if help is needed when we feel bad about something that had happened. That person admires our spirit, gives us a pat on the shoulder, and sincerely tells us: "You are a noble person."
Benjamin Franklin said;" Man that does things makes mistakes, but does not make the greatest error ever which is the error of not doing anything."
