FINDING THE WAY TO TRUE HAPPINESS

Ask yourself: Are you happy? If yes is your answer, why are you happy? A great career, a secured means of income, wealth or a perfect family? Perhaps your happiness might be as a result of future expectations: that big break; getting a new car, relocating to another home, city or country and securing a fantastic job. Whatever it is, we all deserve to be happy. More often than not, the happiness we experience is usually shortlived. Very Temporary!

A dictionary defines happiness as a state of well being in which we experience intense joy. It is described as that surge of positive emotions that give you peace of mind, it is so deep that you are content about yourself.

In my opinion, happiness is a journey to experiencing a measure of self-fullfilment. It is a journey because we all can not be happy at the same time. You might be happy today because you have achieved a certain goal or fullfilled your desires. I might not be happy today because my expectations and dreams might not have been met. So we all are in a journey to experiencing that surge of emotions called happiness using one method or the other.

The truth is that we all can stay happy all the time. It is just like enjoying good health. A healthy life is not spontaneous, we need to eat a balanced diet and live a good lifestyle.

For one to find the way to true happiness, we need to apply five principles for our journey to be successful.

The first principle is to become contented with whatever you have. A lot of persons entertain the notion that wealth is the key ingredient to making them happy. Thus, they convert all their time into making money. They lose sleep, experience frustration and disappointments when their set goals are not achieved at the end of the day. You can imagine the sadness, failure, misery felt when when investments depreciate or lose value.

Always be content with what you have now. A happy State streams from a contented mind, preventing one from grumbling, complaining or being envious.
Contentment will not allow unnecessary anxiety envelope you when you face disappointments.

Entertain a generous spirit. Anyone who is generous gives because he or she wants others happy. They devote their time, energy and resourceful to putting s smile on the faces of others.

Live a healthy life by eating good food and engage in exercise. We all can not have a complete control over our health but we can take steps to improve its current state. "A healthy man is a happy man", my grandma used to say. When we are sick, we can be sad or depressed when we do not become better. Thus, for you and I to remain happy, we should not joke with our health. Eating a balanced and suitable diet; following a good exercise regimen; avoiding negative emotions like anger and anxiety will keep one in good shape. Always focus on positive thoughts and ideas.

Humans always want to feel loved and accepted. It is a need we must fill to remain happy. Getting married, creating a fantastic family and building great friendships are varoust ways to experience love.

Love is important to our mental and emotional health. This is because we feel secure when we around our loved ones, drawing emotional strength from them.

boldDevelop a Forgiving Spirit

We need to learn how to forgive others and also forget whatever they must have done. When we do not let go, our lives can become tainted with the negative emotional of anger and bitterness. This can lead one to a life path of isolation, depression and ill health.

Having a forgiving spirit will make it easy to forgive ourselves when our problems are as a result of our past mistakes. It will help us focus on moving on, as we have learnt from our mistakes.

Its not easy to live a happy life. Try to compare finding the path of finding happiness as a journey in which you need survival materials to reach your destination. You will see that a continuous state of happiness is achievable if you apply the principles in your life.
