Today, I’m going to share you about investing. I’m going to tell you that we have to have sail mentality on investing. So, here it is.
In the world of investment or finance, there will be times when the storms come suddenly. Interestingly, this storm is bound to emerge. Even more interesting. ALWAYS, only a few survive.
Those who survived this storm, saw the storm not as a threat, but an opportunity. Survivors of this storm can dance while others run. For others, the storm is death. For them, the storm is life.
Because, the survivors are, those who have learned how to sail.
Many people blame other when a storm occurs. Why are you sailing if you can’t sail? Many are interested in sailing because there are opportunities to become richer. Because there is a chance to change lives.
Moreover, many people do things because they see others succeed. Some have made billions, and people are interested in joining without knowing how it works.
After their money is lost in the storm, they blame others. They blame who created the system. They blame their friends who introduced to them. They blame the market. They blame something outside. But they forget, the mistakes are in them.
So, don’t sail if you don’t know how to sail.
Similarly with investment. Don't invest if you don't know the product you are investing in. Moreover, if your reason for investing is because you want to 'get rich quick'.
There’s no shortcut to getting rich, except hard work and smart work.
The investment world is as large as the ocean. The challenge that must be passed to find the treasure is not as easy as depicted in a movie or fictional story. We need preparation, we need to struggle, we need sacrifice to be able to sail oceans.
Therefore, the sailing mentality in the world of investing is a willing to learn mentality.
We learn how to sail, how to read a compass, how to survive at sea, how to deal with emergencies, how to hunt, how to read the signs of a storm. To be able to sail we need to learn.
Similarly with investing. To be able to invest properly, we need to learn.
As we study, we need time to master what we learn. We can read the signs of storms if we have learned the characteristics of different types of storms. We can bring the boat directions because we have learned how to view the map. Learning it is a process.
In 1952, a man named Bernard C. Webber rescued the SS Paddleton tanker. At that time, the storm split the Pendleton ship in half, thus requiring help.
Bernard C. Webber and his three colleagues, carrying out a life-threatening rescue mission. They must hit the storm to save the crew from the Paddleton ship.
Finally, they can rescued 32 Paddleton crew, on a boat that could only accommodate 12 people.
Their successful rescue operation has been noted as one of the greatest in the history of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Kali ini saya mau berbagi persoalan mengenai investasi. Saya ingin bercerita agar kita punya mental ‘berlayar’ ketika investasi. Yuk simak pembahasannya!
Dalam dunia investasi atau dunia keuangan, akan ada masa-masa dimana badai datang secara tiba-tiba. Menariknya, badai ini pasti akan muncul, tidak bisa tidak! Yang lebih menarik lagi, SELALU, SELALU hanya sedikit yang mampu selamat.
Mereka yang selamat dari badai ini, melihat badai bukan sebagai ancaman, tetapi peluang. Mereka yang selamat dari badai ini, bisa menari disaat orang lain berlari. Bagi orang lain, badai adalah kematian. Bagi mereka, badai adalah kehidupan.
Karena, mereka yang selamat adalah, mereka yang telah belajar bagaimana caranya berlayar.
Banyak orang menyalahkan orang lain ketika terjadi badai. Kenapa anda berlayar jika anda tidak bisa berlayar? Banyak yang tertarik untuk berlayar karena ada peluang untuk menjadi lebih kaya. Karena ada kesempatan untuk merubah hidup.
Banyak orang melakukan sesuatu karena melihat orang lain berhasil. Ada yang berhasil menghasilkan milyaran, dan orang tertarik untuk bergabung tanpa mengetahui seluk beluknya seperti apa.
Setelah uangnya hilang ditelan badai, mereka menyalahkan orang lain. Mereka menyalahkan yang membuat sistemnya. Mereka menyalahkan teman mereka yang mengenalkan pada produknya. Mereka menyalahkan pasar. Mereka menyalahkan sesuatu yang ada diluar. Tetapi mereka lupa, kesalah ada di dalam diri mereka.
Jangan berlayar jika anda tidak tahu caranya berlayar.
Demikian pula dengan investasi. Jangan investasi jika anda tidak tahu produk yang anda investasikan. Apalagi, jika alasan anda untuk berinvestasi adalah karena ingin ‘cepat kaya’.
Tidak ada jalan pintas untuk menjadi kaya, kecuali kerja keras dan kerja cerdas berdampingan.
Dunia investasi itu seluas samudera. Tantangan yang harus dilewati untuk menemukan harta karun tidak semudah yang digambarkan dalam film atau cerita fiksi. Perlu persiapan, perlu perjuangan, perlu pengorbanan untuk bisa mengarungi samudera. Oleh karena itu, mental berlayar dalam dunia investasi adalah mental yang mau belajar.
Belajar bagaimana cara berlayar, cara membaca kompas, cara bertahan hidup di laut, cara menghadapi keadaan darurat, cara berburu, cara membaca tanda-tanda datangnya badai. Untuk bisa berlayar anda perlu belajar.
Demikian pula dengan investasi. Untuk bisa berinvestasi dengan benar, anda perlu belajar.
Saat kita belajar, kita butuh waktu untuk menguasai apa yang kita pelajari. Kita bisa membaca tanda akan badai jika kita sudah belajar ciri berbagai jenis badai. Kita bisa membawa arah perahu karena kita telah belajar cara melihat peta. Belajar itu adalah proses.
Pada tahun 1952, seorang bernama Bernard C. Webber melakukan penyelamatan kapal tanker SS Paddleton. Saat itu, badai membelah kapal Paddleton menjadi dua, sehingga membutuhkan pertolongan.
Bernard C. Webber bersama tiga rekannya, melakukan misi penyelamatan yang mengancam nyawa mereka. Mereka harus menerjang badai untuk menyelamatkan kru dari kapal Paddleton.
Akhirnya, mereka berhasil menyelamatkan 32 kru Paddleton, diatas kapal yang hanya mampu menampung 12 orang.
Sampai saat ini, kisah penyelamatan Bernard C. Webber masih diakui sebagai kisah penyelamatan terbesar sepanjang sejarah penjaga pantai Amerika Serikat.
