3 WAYS TO LIVE A BETTER - HAPPIER LIFE

in #life7 years ago

Let's face it. Everybody wants to live a good life, but with all the media and the bullshit celebrity-glamorous-lifestyle, we've kinda lost track of what the good life is all about.

We compare ourselves to what we see on TV and to what we read in magazines (assuming you do any those), and if we cannot match-up to those people we idolize, we start to feel inferior, and psychologically this makes us feel less happy about the things we actually have and the things that we actually have control over.

We feel that if we cannot leave our mansion in Beverly Hills in our hot red Ferrari, as we drive 120 mph to the airport where we will board our private jet just to fly somewhere in the Caribbean so we can stuff our feet in the sand as we sip on coconut water - then our lives has no meaning. We are not "cool" and we don't deserve an Instagram account. If we can put all of that hyped-up crap behind us and truly focus on who we are, then maybe, just maybe we can start to realize what is really important to us, how to work on this "stuff", how to solve our own problems, then we get a sense of true happiness.

I'm not saying driving a Ferrari to board a private jet and sipping on coconut water isn't cool. But don't just focus on the superficial side of that, before a person is capable of doing such things, there's some shit that he or she has to do, and this shit usually requires a lot of hard work and sacrifice before achieving.

So, let's focus on 3 ways to live a better - happier life.

1. CHOOSE WHAT TO GIVE A FUCK ABOUT.
We live in a big world with a limited amount of time, with billions of people, and an infinite amount of things to do. Remember, as an individual, you are just one person, there is a limit to what you can do in your lifetime. Of course, what you do today can affect future generations, but your time to act is now, and you only have a few fucks to give, so choose them wisely.
Focus on what is important to you, what impact do you want to make, then work on the skills required, you only need to master one or two skills, so your time and energy should be focused on sharpening your skills. Now you know what you want and you have the skills to solve problems and make that happen. This equals a happier you!

2. LOOK WITHIN YOURSELF.
Usually, when we are faced with a problem or something tragic has happened to us, we tend to blame others, we point fingers, we question god, we ask, "why me?"

We have to face the fact that eventually, some bad shit will happen to us, no matter what - at least on this planet. We have to be mentally and emotionally prepared to deal with these circumstances. Will it be hard- of course! But what can we do? The answer is not a fucking thing. Build yourself up from the inside out. It is up to you to decide how to deal with the situation.
If your boss fires you tomorrow for whatever reason, you go home and cry and drink your problems away while blaming all of your co-workers for talking bad about you behind your back, or you can see it as an opportunity, maybe you've had an idea of starting your own business but you've been so busy pleasing your boss that you never got started. Remember, with every difficulty there is an opportunity.

In the end, your final decision determines the way your future plays out.

3. MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS.
In our society, for the past century, we've grown up to follow rules and to live within a system. Have you ever questioned who controls all of this? Well, you probably should. They say if you're in a room with a group of people and you don't know who the fool is chances are it's you! Scale this to the majority of the world, if we do not know who the fools are (the ones being controlled and manipulated) chances are it is us.

I'm not jumping on some Illuminati bullshit either. Believe what you want. The fact is we have lost our decision to act, the sense of freedom to make our own decisions. We grow up in a school system where a group of people goes through courses and are tested identically and the ones that exceed are rewarded and praised and the ones that do average or mediocre are looked down at and gets punished. Completely ignoring the fact that we are individuals with different strengths and weaknesses.

People are now more scared to chase what they believe in because society might not appeal to it. We feel embarrassed or afraid to break out of our comfort zone and take risks. Picture Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, they both dropped out of school to pursue an idea only them (and a few others) could see, at a time where it seemed impossible to do, they took the biggest risks and today, a few decades later, they are know globally for their vision and decision to act, and they will be known for generations and generations. Because they did not care about the nay-sayers or the people who told them it was impossible, or the people who thought they were crazy, but maybe they were crazy, and their craziness allows us the freedom we have today.
